Description:
Straight and streaked with silver, this woman's hair is a tawny-blonde, hanging to her waist when unbound. She is past the first blush of youth, her oval face lined with care, while level gray-blue eyes are set below straight eyebrows and above high cheekbones, a square jaw and firm chin framing a snubbed nose and generous mouth. Her fair skin is seamed with scars, especially a broad, pale one across her left cheekbone to the jaw.

Personality:
Practical and sensible, this woman was Chosen very late in life, and her maturity shows. She has gone through four miscarriages, and shows a matronly affection to the younger Trainees she meets, but is not above telling them to do their own work. She is mule-headed and proud, with a sense of humor that has been described as caustic, wry or sardonic depending on the person who's describing it, and a prickly, even crotchety nature. She has little time for frills and fripperies, having scarred her cheek in a farming accident when young, and is fit for her age.

Brief History:
Riannyn Sentardis is a native of the rural Sector of Three Rivers, sharing her people's monotheistic beliefs. Showing a knack for literacy and basic figuring, she was taken on by the village clerk Jakeb as an apprentice when she was twelve, and ended up marrying him when she was sixteen. For twenty-five years they were happily wed, until Jakeb died of old age, and she took on his work, educating the youngsters as well. Four years later, Galena came for her, an older Companion mare with a scarred nose whose sense of humor matched Riannyn's own. Since Ria had three successors and no family left, she was able to take herself off to Haven without regrets, and is now just getting used to the Heraldic Collegium.

Goals in Life:
Riannyn wants to aim for a teacher's job, even the post of Herald-Chronicler if she can. Though she has kept herself fit, coming to weapons-training has been hard for her, seeing as she follows the pacifistic Book of One, and is hoping to get a Circuit inside the city as a judge or helping with the Guard.

Gifts:
In order of strength, all of which except the first are short- range or tactile-based, Ria has Mindspeech, split-second Foresight, a hint of Empathy and the ability to sense truth if she is in physical contact with someone. She is just strong enough with her Mindspeech to cast second-stage Truth Spell.
