The Awakening

After weeks in the hospital,
You open your eyes.
You've been so far away from us for so long.

You see me at your side
And you ask me why I'm here.
Don't you know, I love you?

When they called me to tell me of your accident,
I immediately flew to your side.
Nothing could keep me away.

And yet, you don't seem to know
How deeply I love you.
Otherwise, you'd know why I came.

I've been at your side
These last few weeks,
And will stay here as long as you'll let me.

But you try to turn me away.
You tell me you're not worth the trouble,
And you turn your head.

You must know that I won't go so easily.
You must know that I don't agree,
And I would never leave you when you need me the most.

My heart will always be yours,
And I'll take care of you
As long as you'll let me.

Even the distance between my home and yours
Couldn't keep me from your side.
And there's no way I'd ever let you suffer alone.
