Has It Been Fifty Years?

By Jessie Valentine
(For Bob And Dorothy K.)

I'll bet it seems like yesterday
When you took her hand and said,
"Come with me and walk with me,
My dearest, deepest friend."

Then, when down the aisle, she came,
Dressed in her purest white,
You thought of how you were so lucky
To make her your loving wife.

And through the years of ups and downs
Your love has remained strong,
'Cause she's the one you gave your love to
Most of your life long.

So take her hand again today
and ask through happy tears,
"It seems like only yesterday,
Has it been fifty years?"
