WHY NOT REST A WHILE

By Jessie Valentine

To my Anchor. For always being there to steady me
when I am drifting away.

Why not rest a while
Where the trees and lilies grow,
On a blanket beneath the rising sun
With it's radiant, beaming glow?

Why not rest a while
Here beside me where I lie?
And gaze upon the sky with me
And watch the clouds roll by.

Why not rest a while
Along the wooded path?
And hold my hand, I'll sing to you
A song of lovers past.

Why not rest a while
From your tired, weary day?
And close your eyes beside me
While I wipe your cares away.

Why not rest a while
Where the trees and lilies bloom?
And we'll watch the sunset in the sky
Give way to a silver moon.
