Since I've actually gotten a few e-mails about this, chatrooms talking about it, people asking me about it. I got off my bum and well reveal how to make images.
Step 1. NEW FILE
The first thing you need to do is make a new image file. I recommend .BMP as the best way to start. Now don't worry about it not working just yet. You'll get better with time. If you don't have .bmp files as an option, i suppose .jpg would be where you want to start.
Step 2. SETUP
Anyways, once you have have the file made, fix the properties. Make sure that that its 40x40 pixels. Or 1600 pixels. The Height will be 40, the Width will be 40, you get the idea. Now some people might think this is so small that you won't be able to do pretty much anything in it. Well you are WRONG. First of all, I recommend you go to your highest zoom point, make sure it's somewhere between 800% and 1600% magnification. This should allow you to work precisely what you need and where. Next is we have to be sure of something: Can you see each pixel point well enough? If not, try looking into a Grid mode, which will take away from the image appeal while you're editing, but it will give you a more precise point to click.
This will be the hardest part of this process. Creating the actually image. For those of you just stealing images off other people: 1. You should be shot. 2. Just resize that image to 40x40 pixels.
For those of you creating the image, pixel by pixel: 1. Thou doest have the practice of a Saint. 2. Make sure to use proper shading and not just have Blockmen, for that is lame.
The actual make of the image is totally up to you, but make sure that when you are looking at it 100%, the image is clear enough.
This part is fairly easy, all you have to do is make sure the name of this image is the exact name of the card you made. So if it's "Bob the King of Death" then your image name will be "BobtheKingofDeath". The only difference is that your image cannot have any " " in it. Basically it will be all ONE SINGLE WORD. You CAN have - ' 1 # etc in the name, just as long as there are no spaces.
This will be the most painful of this process. Converting this image into a format that YVD will accept. I'm sure that the size of your image is somewhere around 10-135KB, but unfortunately, YVD only accepts .gif images that are 3KB or less. Although I have not tested this for a 4KB file, I'm certain it applies. Example, if your image is 5KB when its a .gif and you try and use it in YVD. YVD will simple have a Grey Square for its image, it can also cuase YVD to crash*I've only heard of this happening once or twice though, so don't regard it as too likely*. Also, your final image for YVD that you will use MUST be a .GIF file or it will also not load. So no matter how much you may hate it, your final image will be a
3kb or less .gif file.
This part is fairly easy. All you need to do from this point on is create a folder in your
?:/Program Files/YVD/Images folder named after the set. so if your set is named ASS, then you will make a folder in the images folder named ass and it will look like this:
?:/Program Files/YVD/Images/ass
And place all the images of all the cards in that folder. So in
?:/Program Files/YVD/Images/ass
we will have these images: BobtheKingofDeath.gif and SmellySockofHorror.gif
and thats all there is to it. See ya.
