The gentle heart of friendship
by destiny's design
Embracing thoughts and memories
along the paths of time ~
Shrouded by reflections
as windows to the soul
That bares in each the truest form
where trust is far extolled.

Taken not for granted
for great is the reward
For those who cherish humankind
and live not by the sword ~
But yet to taste the sweetness
and smell the vast perfume
Of all life has to offer
for which Eternity has groomed.

Ascribe to know the wonders
drafted by the hand
That joins us here within the hope
that we'll soon understand ~
Man was not born for loneliness
that we should come to know
A friendship in the truest form
along life's dusty roads.

I do not profess to comprehend
the battles that we face
Or why the good things seem to slip
out from our embrace ~
I only know that in this life
should we ever choose to be
The kind of friend we hope to know
will soon reflect from me.

Although this day now set aside
for lovers throughout time
Has slowly lost the meaning
of friendship once defined ~
It was not about the passion
or a lover's soft caress,
For the legend of St Valentine
was the gift of happiness.

And so to you, my dearest friends,
upon this day of days
I wish to you the greatest gift
of blessings for always ~
For friendship has its rich rewards
in memories that remain
When it joined the links of love between
our friendship's golden chain.

"Everyone assumes that Valentine's Day is a day just for lovers....when it is a day for love.   The difference being that love exists between those we hold dear to our hearts in families and friendship as well as within the passionate confines of another kind of love.   This poem expresses the gentle and truest form of love ~ that of friendship.   A gift of love given to all our loved ones on this special day....friends, lovers, family.   The gift is to richly bless others and in return our reward is great in the precious and most priceless gift of all ~ the golden chain of friendship.   The linking of friends forever."

This poem is dedicated to my closest friends on this Valentine's Day ~ may you all be richly blessed beyond all abundance!
