I kept my bedroom door shut when I first brought him home,
so I could watch Homer as he explored. Since I am disabled, I didn't want him
to go getting stuck in some out-of-way place! Of course he didn't, cats are
smarter than humans! LOL
See how he is standing in that first picture? He still does that to this day. He will walk up to a wall, stand against it, and swivel his head all around and backwards, upside-down, to see what everything looks like from different perspectives.
Also to this day, Homer has a fascination with my bookcases.
He loves to lay on top of all the books, and will make room for himself if he
can't find a good spot.
Like most cats I've known, he will say something if he catches you looking at him! LOL I made him this little box-bed, which he quickly outgrew, both physically and emotionally. He'd rather be on the bed, the lazy bum!
These wonderful shots were taken by my then 9 year old nephew, Teddy. The last one is a good perspective on how small Homer was at 3 months. His tail was just starting to get bushy, and I should have spotted that. I was hoping for a Domestic Short Hair, which is what his card said, and they were wrong! While the frequent brushing is a pain, and I hope he never gets fleas, he has a beautiful coat! He is dark gray now with hints of brown underlying the gray, with black stripes and is gold-tipped, just gorgeous! The fur under his tail is now a light reddish brown color. He is pretty much white underneath, but has a big gray circle on his belly, which I just can't resist rubbing when he is lying on his back! LOL
Most cats don't like getting their bellies rubbed. Mittsy did
and Homer loves it! Homer will tip his head towards your hand as a signal to
rub his ears, when you rub his belly. And I almost always get feather kisses
in thanks! :-)
