My first cat Mittsy liked to "hunt" with his toy by sitting on it, like he was hatching it, then digging into it with his back claws, picking it up and shaking it to "break" its neck, then proudly walking off with his "kill" and yowling with a special cry. Now, when that's done with a bright red mouse type toy, it's hysterical!
Homer does the same thing, but with a towel. Why he latched
onto a towel, I don't know! A friend of mine had given Homer one of those cat
stockings one Christmas, and it had a dozen toys in it. Several would have suited the same purpose, but noooooooo!
The only thing I can say is that if you have a cat who shows
aggression, this may be a good way to work off a little steam. I often will
cover my hand with a towel, and let Homer get medieval. He enjoys it so much!
Especially when you try to tickle his belly or grab his back legs. It's an instinctive
reaction for them to kick out with their back paws, to protect their vulnerable
areas. Afterwards, he sleeps! Or should I say, he recharges his batteries? LOL
