The ASA will organize a seminar about new water polo rules at the University Residence in Lija on Friday and Saturday, 20th and 21st January 2006. The seminar will be conducted by Gianni Lonzi, chairman of FINA Water Polo Technical Committee. Those interested are kindly ask to contact the ASA via email or by sending a fax on 2134 7625.
From 2006 all Clubs are eligible to register one non-Maltese nationality player. This was revealed yesterday during the ASA Annual General Meeting which was held at the University Residence in Lija. Such motion, presented by Otters ASC, was passed by ten votes against eight. Last time that Clubs were eligible to register such players was in 1996.
During the meeting, Robert Ebejer and Joe Agius Ruggier were confirmed as ASA President and vice-president waterpolo respectively. Dr. Adrian Camilleri was appointed in the new post of ASA vice-president Administration/Education. Ebejer also announced that the National Pool will only be unavailable during the month of January due to refurbishment works.
On Wednesday night a social activity at the Hotel Fortina Spa Resort, Sliema was organized for Club officials and players. During the activity, the Club awarded Mario Zammit after he was named ASA Water Polo Player of the Year 2005 for Division Two. Zammit was also voted Best Player of the Club for 2005.

Mario Zammit has been named ASA Water Polo Player of the Year for the Second Division 2005. The Valletta United player, who collected 41points, was followed by Simon Cachia (Marsaxlokk) and Reuben Grech (Otters).
Mario, a Valletta product, made his debut with the Club in the late 80's before moving to San Giljan. In 1997 he helped Marsascala to lift the Division One Championship for the first time in their history. Before rejoining Valletta, Zammit played for one season with Sirens. On a personal level, in 1996 he won the ASA Water Polo Player of the Year for the first Division whilst playing for San GIljan. Awguri Mario!!!
