What's Happening This Month January 2001

Happy New Year!  2001 will be a year of many changes for us.  We will be welcoming our new teaching assistant in the beginning of the month.  We will miss Mr. Dan, but we wish him well in his student teaching placement.  During January we will be continuing our look at the author Jan Brett.  She has several books about winter weather that we will enjoy.  Our winter weather unit will be based on her books The Mitten and The Hat. During the first two weeks of January we will be learning about Polar Bears and Penguins.  We will have several centers to help us explore this topic. In science, we will be exploring ice and water.  We have a lot of fun in store for us with our science experiments!   We will also be celebrating the New Year during the first week of January.  We will be making time capsules and making New Year's resolutions.

During the second half of the month we will be learning about winter weather around the world and hibernation.  We are excited to get our paper dolls back from classes around the world!  For more information on our project please check the link below.

Winter Weather Project

I will be adding a new section to the web site soon.  In this section I will list our themes month-by-month.  I will also be adding the units I teach as time allows.  In the units all activities, books, poems, and songs used in the classroom will be listed.  I would encourage everyone to look through the units and continue these activities at home.  I will send a notice home when this new section is available online.
