THERE'S A BEAR IN THERE !
One of my other hobbies is  making Teddy Bears. I started many years ago and  below you can see Columbo, the first bear I ever made.
Columbo has his paws on back to front and his eyes are, well you can see why my husband named him Columbo. However he loves this bear and used to take him on Cub and Scout camps when he was a Scout Leader. Now he is no longer involved in that Columbo is taken on holidays with us. A couple of years ago I decided that I too should have a travelling bear so I made Albert who is pictured with him on holiday in Tasmania
On this page you can see some other bears I have made.
Columbo and Albert:
Two bears in their natural habitat.
Columbo and friend "Grandad"
Cute little Rosie is only 6" tall
The bear on the left is made from the same basic pattern as Columbo. His limbs are sewn on rather than jointed and he can be made in a variety of fabrics. I like to use acrylic fur and polyester filling. Sometimes I use safety eyes but if I am making a bear intended for a baby I sometimes make the eyes from felt and sew them on. This way the bear has no metal parts and is completely washable.
"Bingo" has gone to the USA to be part of the "Raggedy Relief" program in Washington or New York.
