To
whom it may concern:
I am a certified 6-12 English teacher in the state
of Florida and I am seeking employment as a full-time English teacher in
Vermont. I have been a passionate and
involved Florida teacher during the last two years and now I am returning home
to The Green Mountain State. Henry
Adams once said: “A teacher affects eternity; no one can tell where his
influence stops.” For me, teaching is not simply a back-up or alternate career choice. Being a teacher was…is a life goal of
mine. I have gained some experience and
now I am simply looking for a school to call home.
I have two years of experience at Flagler Palm Coast
High School in Bunnell, Florida. I have
been a Youth Crisis Counselor at the Youth Crisis Center in St. Augustine,
Florida for the past three years. I
have worked as a substitute teacher in St. Johns County. My Internship was in a seventh grade
classroom at Sebastian Middle School in St. Augustine, Florida. I have two practicum experiences: St. Augustine High School and Gaines
Alternative Center. Both practicums
required working with ESE students. I
was a pre-school teacher at Shores United Methodist Daycare in St. Augustine
and Northshire Day School in Manchester, Vermont. I understand children and my goal is to prepare them to be
engaged, informed, and passionate citizens.
I have experience volunteering with the Special
Olympics and as an English tutor. I
sponsored the freshman class, the sophomore class, and the high school
newspaper. I built a class website, the
school newspaper website, and our school website. I have extensive art and advertising skills, and I love to create
innovative lessons and warm classroom environments. For me, the best part about teaching is being involved. Teaching
is about chaperoning field trips, cheering at games, setting up for prom, and
building homecoming floats. Teaching is
not a 9-5 job, and it never should be.
Teaching is about being involved.
It’s about being a role model.
I am a life-long learner. I worked my way through
Flagler College and earned a BA in English Education and a minor in Psychology
because I had inspiring teachers who guided me through the tough times of my
life. I simply wish to repay the
favor. I think many teachers forget the
impact they can make on a child’s life.
I pride myself on my ability to relate to my students while earning
their respect and instilling in them an intrinsic desire to learn and to do
well.
I grew up in Vermont and I am anxious to return
home. I would appreciate an opportunity
to prove myself in the classroom and to show you the passion, talent, and
energy I can bring to your school. I
will be available in early June for an interview. I am excited to show you my portfolio and see your school.
Very Sincerely Yours,
Jeremy
