General Rules of Vanir's Fjord
1
Honesty, Integrity, Duty, Respect, and above all Honor.
Through these, One earns Respect. Simply because You can type in Capitals, does not necessarily make You a Master or Mistress.
2
If you enter the Steading, enter with a real name. Those entering under anonymous, visitor or any variation thereof and those entering with names composed of symbols make it harder on members of the Steading to greet/welcome them properly.
3 Visitors need not disarm upon entering the palisades of the Steading. It's non-Gorean. Keep Your weapons. Our Warriors can deal with any trouble *GRIN*
4 Visitors are allowed to seek one to ask questions of, so long as that is done in public.
5 slaves will greet all Frees within the Steading. Visitors and strangers will NOT be greeted until admitted by a Steading member. And "greetings all" is NOT acceptable. When a non-member enters the home, there is always the possibility that they are an unwelcome or even dangerous intrusion. For that reason, if a free is present, bondmaids and thralls should wait for the command to greet and serve. Do not ask to greet, as a slave’s presence should be non-intrusive during the initial conversation with a visitor until their identity and business has been established. When the free gives the command, then slaves may greet. The ranking free man, or in their absence the ranking free woman, in the room should specify a slave to offer service. Too often I have seen slaves make the assumption that someone else will get it, or conversely three ask at once which seems clumsy. If only slaves are present in the room then they will have to greet and offer service without direction. However, if a fighting thrall is present, (chane or zwanga are the only two right now) then they should greet first to establish if any threat is present.
6 Steading slaves may serve Any and All food, drink and conversation. Only Vanir's Fjord members may be served a "full serve" *GRIN*

7 FW are quite safe here as long as they adhere to the proper rules of conduct. If You are not sure what those are then please review the Free Woman pages. Veils are not required in Torvaldsland.
8 No PM's without permission!
9 Observers are welcome in the Steading, though remember to observe is not to particpate. The ~o~ will protect you until you start to interact with the room.
10 Frees may obtain membership by reading the Membership Rules page and following those guidelines listed.

11 THE STEADING OF VANIR'S FJORD IS A KILL/Capture ZONE. There are forced collars here when it is warranted.
12 Vanir's Fjord supports and adheres to the WEBMAZE raiding rules and the Webmaze FW Rules.
13 The made up Gorean Language is not used here nor are slaves forced to speak in the third person. Outide slaves shall speak as their Master has commanded.
14 Collared slaves not of VF do not visit here. They may come in, but only to deliver a message or errand on behalf of their Master. Visiting collared slaves may visit IF accompanied by their Master or a Free person of their home. Slaves simply didn't gallivant around Gor on their own.
Helpful Hints
1 This is Torvaldsland, the far north of Gor. Some things are slightly different here. (We do have summer here by the way.)
2 The leader is called "The Jarl". Ubars are from the south.
3 The Overseer is the second in command here. He speaks with the Jarl's voice and has His confidence.
4 The Jarl's Second, the Captain, is the Jarl's second in command at sea. He also speaks with the Jarl's voice.
5 The Jarl's Woman is the highest ranking female in the Steading. She holds more power than the Ubara of the south. Deal well with Her, for Her word can be law, and retribution will be swift. As always, though, the Jarl rules, and She is well aware of Her position.
6 Our Warriors are all accomplished fighters. The Warriors of Torvaldsland are larger than their southern counterparts, and are as quick to anger as they are to laugh. Don't piss them off.
7 Our Council Members, Ilmarinen, Einar and Cassandra, have the ear of the Jarl. They are the most knowledgeable and wise of Vanir's Fjord. Whether a Council Member is male or female matters not. They will be respected.
8 Our Free Women are honored and protected. They run the steading while their Men are off "playing" elsewhere (Raiding, Visiting and generally having a good time). Although not Warriors, they have a few very nasty tricks up their sleeves when protecting their Homestone.
You have been warned
9 Our kajirae are called "bond-maids", our kajirus are "thralls". Outside slaves are not expected to change their language, but should be aware of the terms which are used here.
10 Bond-maids wear a soft white woolen kirtle; which is slit up the entire front and fastened by one fastener just under the breasts, showing off lots of leg and clevage. Thralls wear leathers and tunics. No slave goes naked, we don't like slave-sickles.

11 Torvaldsland collars are made of black iron, hinged and and are riveted on one side.
They cannot be "snapped" off, nor lock-picked off nor slipped off.
12 Torvaldsland has no "silk" designations. For ease of understanding, a {VF*} collar denotes a new slave in training. A slave in training serves in tower, and is learning. Once trained, all girls bear the title "VF ~bond maid~" after their collar, all thralls bear "VF thrall" after their collar. We have no yellow silks here. A slave is either in training, or trained and ready to fully serve. Every bond maid will be given slavewine each month. There are no pregnant slaves in Vanir's Fjord.
13 All Gorean drinks and food are served here. Our favorite though, is mead, a fermented honey brewed wine served in a polished and gold banded bosk horn. The horn cannot be put down, as there is no foot on it. If a You have not the stamina to drink the entire horn, pass it to One who can.
About Our Home
Welcome to the far North of the continent. The Torvaldslanders are much like the ancient Vikings of Earth. They are wary of the Priest-Kings and their caste of Initiates, but worship the real Gods of the Their People, Odin and Thor. They are Warriors and Raiders, Their ships plundering as They see fit. But when not raiding They live mostly the life of farmers and fishermen or hunters, but many other occupations can be found here. They are a proud and strong People, quick to anger, but quick to joviality. Below you will find a set of quick rules visitors to the Fjord should review prior to entering the Hall, members are expected to do further research and use the above links to truly know our Home.
This is the land of the Thing. Also of The Kurii, who are fond of harassing the Torvaldslanders. We are ever vigilant of invasion by these intelligent beast-rivals for the planet. This is the land of the white snow sleen and the river tharlarion. The bond-maids with long silken hair, dressed in white woolen kirtles, service the Jarls and FW of the Great Hall. Thralls serve the Free, work the fields and take care of the herds of bosk and verr that graze on the grass of the rich northern soil. Some thralls are well trained fighting slaves. The winters are long and cold. The summers short and warm, filled with bright Northern flowers. The fields of winter Sa-Tarna are often evident wherever tillable soil is found. The Farmers also answer the call of the black arrow sent in times of WAR
for it is written that each Man is a Jarl within the reach of His axe.
The trees grow stunted and twisted, but the great northern forest, where the wild Panther Girls live, is just to the south. The snowy mountains are fantastic and the ice floes are many. The land is harsh and demands much, like the People Who inhabit it. The People are not so trusting of Strangers but are fiercely loyal to those They accept as Friend.
This is Gor where the word Stranger and Enemy is the same word.
As you sail in from the sea of Thassa, you see the sleek Serpent Ships of the Jarl and His Men. Landing upon the rocky shoreline, you approach a low building within a palisade. This is the Great Hall of the Jarl Kurzon. Smoke is curling from the ever-burning fires of the hearth. This is a great hall, made from the precious wood that is prized by those of Torvaldsland, which means
"The Gift of Thor to Torvald".
You knock upon the massive double doors and are greeted.
We invite all Goreans to visit with Us and share a horn of mead or a tankard of ale. The slaves here work hard but they play hard as well. We ask that before visiting Us, especially for those new to Gor, that you visit this webpage for this room. you will find many useful things to help keep you alive. We also have a Message Board to post items of interest to this room.
At the far end of the Great Hall sits The Jarl, To His right is a figure recognizable by most People on Gor, the Lady Nyx. She is The Jarl's Woman. Looming behind the Jarl, a huge axe held loosely, is His Overseer, Ilmarinen. Nothing escapes His eyes as He watches You. Also on the right is the Captain of the Jarl's Ship the Jarl's Second. He too looms large and is ever vigilant. Along the sides of the hall are many trophies and items collected from all over Gor. Beside the Jarl's Woman is the Haruspex and Vitki, Cassandra, once of the Plains, and now a trusted Advisor. All Torvaldslander's FW are respected for They are an integral part of Our society. For here, away from the PKs and under Odin's Law, the rules are somewhat different.
but this is still GOR.
Moving quickly around the hall can be seen the tantalizing forms of the many beautiful and willing bond-maids, and the large muscled forms of the thralls, trained to fight and devoted to their home. You are waved forward to the seat of Honour across from the Jarl.
"Welcome To Our Home...Enter in Peace and with Honour and always remember"
This is Gor.
Gor is not fair.
Gor is simply Gor.
