You pick the first portal in the small group, reaching out and dipping our fingers into the chalky-feeling portal. You suddenly feel a sharp pull and let out a yell of surprise as the rest of your arm and body are forcefully tugged into the white portal. You tumble in a void for a split second, where you are hardly aware of what is happening, and then find yourself sprawled on the ground. You open your eyes just in time to see a large ball of red string roll over and hit you in the nose. You look up as a boy runs up to grab the string, and the two of you stare at one another for a short moment as he holds the ball in his gloved hands. You shake your head and sit up. You look at the silent boy againa nd ask his name, not knowing wht else to say; he looked nervous. "Jeff," he replies softly. You smile, and then notice his pointed ears as the window blows his hair out of the way. You blink and rub your eyes. The boy is smiling a bit now, and he sits down. You stare. Where there should be feet, there are small cat-like paws instead. Vaprrenon smiles behind you, suddenly jumping out and sitting between the two of you. "Well, you've met Jeff already, I see," she says happily. She looks over to you. "He's a catboy, no reason to be worried about these." She tickles Jeff's kitty feet and the boy giggles, rolling back, the string still in hand. He mews loudly. You look up to see another catboy watching from where he is crouched in the corner. He has grey hair, a tail, and a small black collar. You smile, and so does he. Seeming to gain confidence with your show of kindness, he creeps forward. "And this one, here," Vaprrenon explains, "Is Pounce. He's my shy, gentle, sweetheart of a kitten! Aren't you?" The catboy blushes wildly, glancing away as he mews softly and dashes after Jeff to play with the ball of yarn with him. You watch the two meow and wrestle over the ball for a moment until it rolls off and the two chase after it again. You stand, as does Vaprrenon, and you smile to her, asking if there are any other catboys to be seen. "Of course!" your guide shouts joyously. "Now let's go! I think the rest might be inside." You glance up, seeing a small cottage a small way away from you. You shrug and head after Vaprrenon toward it. These catboys are interesting, cute and innocent like the kittens they acted like and so much resembled. You want to see more of them. The two of you, together, walk toward the small home. Vaprrenon pushes the door open, walking in and holding it open for you. She closes the door once you have entered, and skips back to your side, looking around. "Now, where are--oh, there's one of the little buggers!" |

You look over to a small hammock in the corner wherre you could see a small orange tail hanging over its edge. Vaprrenon padds over and shakes the small figure there. You watch the catboy, one that appeared younger than the other two, jolt awake and stare at you. He smiles up at you, waving with a hand occupied with a large, grey toy mouse. "Hi!" he calls, springing from the hammock and leading the way back to you, traveling on all fours. He stands, smiling still. "This is The Great Mouser," Vaprrenon says. "He's the little one of the group." She pats him on the head. She whispers in his ear and he nods, running off shouting something about a classic something or other. "Come on," the ishna beckons as she walks through the house a bit. "We still have more to see." You see The Great Mouser ahead of you, sitting cross legged on a small wooden table. He smiles happily and giggles a bit, his toy mouse still in hand as he points to the next room. You walk closer, by his side now, and follow his gaze. Before you is some sort of den, a living room, with a roaring fire and large chairs that seem to clash with what is seen in the rest of the small cottage. This room seems centuries apart from the medieval settings of this dwelling. You glance at the rugs, the drawn curtains that let the sunlight stream through like water. You see a bit of movement, and your eyes snap to see what it was you saw. From the corner of the chair, which has its back turned to you, you see a small grey twitch of fur, and two shoes among the chair's short legs. "Oh, Classic!" Vaprrenon jokes as she skips into the room, seeming alien in her now current surroundings. "Stop being so dramatic and come meet your guest!" She turns and waves for you to follow. You approach, coming up to Vaprrenon's side. You look to whomever may be sitting in the chair, and see a young man, dressed in grey to match his long dark hair and long cat ears. He sits there quietly, reading from a book sitting in his lap. He holds up a finger as his eyes pass over the page and then closes his reading after bookmarking his position. He looks up to you and smiles. "I was just catching up on some reading," he says softly with a glance toward your ishna guide. "I did not mean to be rude...I just wished to finish. I'm afraid it drew me into its pages far too deep." He shrugs and stands, perhaps six feet tall now, and places the book upon the mantle above the fireplace. He turns to you and Vaprrenon once again and bows in his greetings. "As Vaprrenon has already said," he adresses, "My name is Classic, another catboy, of course." He smiles. "I assume you will be looking for the others, now," he says. "I can help you find them, if you so desire." You smile and are about to reply when Vaprrenon speaks. "Oh, yes, Classic! That's fine! I hav things to do anyway. Would you mind taking our guest while I go off to Isilldorn? No, alright then!" She smiles, pats your shoulder, and dashes off without another word, leaving you dumbfounded. "Do not worry," Classic says with laughter ringing in his voice, "She does things like that all the time, which I'm sure you'll discover! Come, the others are about here someplace." He calls to The Great Mouser to mind the fire and starts off, you at his heels. |
