You find yourself walking aimlessly through a forest, no memory of how you came to be there, and no idea where you are. The forest around you seems strangely empty, aside from the many pine, maple, and other assorted trees. It also seems oddly quiet. You nervously glance about to your surroundings, unsure what to do or where to go. All you really want right now is to find yourself home; at the very least, you wish you were somewhere more familiar than this!
No matter your personal wishes, you keep on walking through this strange place. After all, what other choice do you have? You sigh as time passes by and the sky slowly starts to darken as twilight approaches. You swallow, growing a little worried as to what night may bring. Already you can hear strange noises lightly echoing through the woods. The rustling of leaves don't bother you so much as the distant roars and howls that distinctly sound of wolves, pumas, and who knows what else.
Feeling eyes on you, and catching glimpses of shadows moving in the trees around you, you break into a run. You are certainly not about to let yourself become these animals' dinner! You can hear the things right behind you, and gaining on you quickly. Glancing over your shoulder, all you see are shadows that look too far away for the footfalls that sound to be within arm's reach.
You turn around, tripping over a tree root. Luckily, you do not fall, but only stumble. You blink suddenly, awkwardly standing there in shock as you look up. Before you sits a large cabin where just a moment earlier you had seen only trees. Smoke rises up from the chimney, and you can see a pale, blue light form around the corners of the door as it slowly begins to open. Hearing another howl behind you, you ignore the mysterious circumstances surrounding the building and run to it, yanking the door open, dashing inside, and slamming it behind you.
You breathe a sigh of relief and look up. Everything about the cabin looks ordinary, save for the young woman sitting near the active fireplace. She smiles to you warmly, nodding for you to come by the fire yourself. You do not know why, but you start toward her, despite how your eyes are locked on her distinctly inhuman features. The woman posses a fluffy, rust-colored cat tail, and ears to match. Her fingers end in small claws, and between her ears reside a pair of small, light blue horns.
"Welcome," she says, standing as you reach her. "My name is Vaprrenon, and I am the keeper of this wood and its surrounding areas, so named The Wolfwind Sanctuary. It is the home of many rare creatures, including Dragonlings," she says with an almost sly grin.
"This way," the woman instructs you, taking your hand and leading you back to a hallway that, logically, should not even exist with the cabin's small dimensions. Nonetheless, you find yourself following her anyway, listening closely as she waves a hand toward the few doors before you.
She turns to you. "Each of these doors will transport you to the specific section of The Wolfwind Sanctuary holding whichever of my creatures you wish to see. Do be careful, and show them the utmost respect. If you agree to comply with our rules, you may continue with your journey. They may seem to be a lot to ask at first glance, but they are easily followed."
