Do you wish to learn more about WolfWind Peak's resident Dragonling species? Here is most all information available to us about these strange, rare creatures. If you have any additional questions about Dragonlings or the Sanctuary's other creatures, please visit the FAQ section of the site, or feel free to e-mail Vaprrenon.

~ General Information ~
Simply speaking, Dragonlings are genetically half dragon and half of nearly any earth creature. Almost all Dragonlings are carnivores, and this is thought to be due to their draconic nature. Each individual has varying degrees or ratios between their visible characteristics of each species, so one can never guess how an unhatched youngling will turn out to look as an adult. Temperament of each Dragonling seems to rely most heavily upon the creature's earth species combination and its adoptive parent's care. For example, Rabbit Dragonlings tend to be far more timid than Bovine Dragonlings. Overall, Dragonlings are loyal and affectionate toward their parent, siblings, friends, and will often go to great lengths to protect said loved ones from danger, even if it goes against their genetic nature.

~ Physical Appearance ~
As stated above, all Dragonlings are quite unique from all others of their kind. As a simple example, a litter of Rat Dragonlings can produce individuals that in no way look remotely alike, with some looking like huge rats, others like furry dragons with bare tails, and who knows what else! Common draconic features found in this species include wings, spikes/horns, strong, thick legs, claws, winding tails, and reptilian eyes. Some Dragonlings, however, seem to have so few draconic characteristics that they look almost identical to their earth creature counterparts with a few added details. The opposite of the spectrum can also be true; one may appear as a natural dragon with a few minor details from another race. No two Dragonlings are alike, but you can think of it like you would dogs: there are many different breeds, yet all of them comprise a single species.
Here are some shadow examples of various Dragonlings:

~ Mating & Breeding ~
At this time, there is no way to breed your Dragonlings. It would get very difficult to pair a Dog Dragonling and a Panther Dragonling and come up with offspring that may be only half dragon and half of a single earth animal species. I may think of something for this in the future, but for now it is said that Dragonlings cannot breed.

~ Species History ~
Dragonlings can only be found living on and around WolfWind Peak. Their ancestors, however, came from another planet entirely. Records are still being recovered from their journey and so at this time not much is known about the Dragonlings' origins. The current, living Dragonlings have almost no knowledge of their own history, their only clues left by writings, half-destroyed video recordings, and pictures created by those who came before them.

At this time, it is agreed upon that Dragonlings' original home planet was named Lon, or Dragonlon. Where this planet is or was is up to debate, but one of the more popular theories is that it now, sadly, is the makeup of the Asteroid Belt between Earth and Mars. The Dragonling ancestors escaped their native planet to flee from some sort of enemy, it seems, and made the journey in unknown craft to find another home.

However, based on a few sparse journal entries and corrupted video data that have been recovered, it seems what-or whoever the Dragonlings were trying to escape from soon found them, and a great battle ensued. Not much is known about this battle, or even still who the enemy might have been. The residents of WolfWind have been searching for answers.

How the species arose and why it is so diverse is a mystery, but Vaprrenon and Cajarna have created a team to house, protect, and care for the current Dragonlings at The WolfWind Sanctuary until another loving home can be found for the wanderers.
