Sampras is out of the tournament!!! He lost to Roger Federer, the 15th seed,
     from Switzerland today.
     It was an exciting, and a close match. The score was: 7-6 (9-7), 5-7, 6-4, 6-7 (2-7)
     7-5.

After the match Sampras said: "He is a great shot maker and has a good all-round
game. I could not get hold of his serve. I had my chances throughout the match
but he brought out some good stuff when he had to on the big points.
His demeanor on the court is similar to mine. He is relaxed and not emotional.
I am very disappointed but I have to give credit to Roger.
My run was not going to last forever. All I can do is rebound for the summer and
the US Open. It is going to take a while to get over this, nut let's not get carried
away by it. It is a tough, tough loss, but I expect to come back here next year
and for many years to come. I am sure I can win the tournament here again."

Federer said: " Some players, coaches and friends have been saying I had a
chance, but I was not 100% on that. I went on court knowing that there was an
opportunity but for it to come true is an unbelievable feeling. When Barry Cowan
took him to 5 sets that showed he was not at his best, so that gave me confidence."

It was only the second time in 9 years of Wimbledon that Sampras lost a match.
The last time it happened was in 1996, when he lost to Krajicek.
