Review :
The cats came and went. Two gigs, Helsinki (the varlets guys didn't get much out of it though, cause one got kicked out
[wille] and the other passed out [kimi]... The other gig was in Ruisrock. That's what this reviews about (the record of the cats playing live)
As raw as it gets, straight from the stage! 17 familiar pieces. When I listened to the record, the gig and all of it's memories
flew to my mind. The pouring rain, expensive beer, feet that ache...fucking ruisrock, walking to the festival area from the bus can really
take it's tole out of a man...
Anyway the gig, as well as the record start's off with "Rumble in brighton". After "double talkin' baby", if someone
hadn't seen the gig and wonders why Setzer's talking about Slim Jim, it's because Slim's finger got cut and his drumstick flew off the stage.
So who's the lucky bastard who managed to get the bloody stick!?!
When "Gene and Eddie" begins, it even makes a crippled granny move her feet (figure of speachwise) The same feeling runs through
when listening to the next song "Blast off". "Bring it back again" makes couples get up and dance. The sounds have been recorded well on this record,
(I think so, cause you can hear my drunken yells in between tracks) :)
A minute before "Fishnet stockings" the band introduces one another. Lee Rockers makes sounds twirl in the song "runaway boys", slap base goes
on slappin', sticks fly, and the guitar howls, then the song continues.
All I can say is the guys still got it. The last songs "(she's) sexy and 17" and "somethin' else" end this record perfectly.
You can even hear the theme from Bonanza in between the last song.
Ladies and Gentleguys, festival gigs have never ended this gracefully on to the shelves of stores.
Bottoms up.
