Dear Ms. Barker:
Thank you for passing along your support for S. 1188, the Department of Veterans Affairs Nurse Recruitment and Retention Enhancement Act of 2001. I appreciate hearing from you.
As you know, S. 1188 would enhance the authority of the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to recruit and retain qualified nurses for the Veterans Health Administration. This legislation has been referred to the Committee on Veterans' Affairs where hearings will be held. Although I am not a member of this committee, please be assured I will keep your thoughts in mind should this legislation come before the Senate for debate.
