Excerpts from letter in response to Friends and Family campaign from US Representative Steven R. Rothman (NJ). (note: his explanation of the bill is incorrect).

Congress of the United States

House of Representatives

Washington DC 20515

September 10, 2001

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Arkin:

Thank you for contacting me in support of HR 2182....

As you may know, H.R. 2182 was introduced by Representative Michael Doyle on June 14, 2001. This bill would require the annuities of part-time employee Registered Nurses working for the Veterans Administration who were employed between 1986 and the date of the enactment of this Act to be adjusted to the amount that such annuities would have been if provisions restricting such amounts had not been revived under a provision of the Omnibus Reconciliation Act of 1986. H.R. 2182 is currently pending before the House subcommittee on Health. I appreciate the care provided by nurses to our nation's veterns. Please be assured that I sill keep your support for H.R. 2182 very much in mind should this legislation come before the full House of Representatives for a vote.

Sincerely,

Steven R. Rothman, Member of Congress
