Excerpts from reply from Senator Bob Smith (NH) to a letter from one of our Family members.

United States Senate

Washington DC 20510-2903

September 21, 2001

Dear Miriam:

The Nurse Recruitment and Retention Act, S. 1188, was approved by the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee on August 2, 2001. I support expanding veterans programs in order to make good on our promise to veterans. That is why I supported $5 million in funding for the backlog of veterans in the system awaiting claims. I also supported and voted for an increase of $650 million dollars in veterans medical care, covering vital services such as nurses.

As a Vietnam War veteran, I will continue to work to ensure that veterans receive the benefits and the care in which they are entitled.

Sincerely yours,

Bob Smith, U.S.S.
