Debbie,
I received this encouraging letter from the Veterans of Foreign
Wars today if you want to put it on the website so that others
may want to write to them also.
VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS OF THE UNITED STATES
AUGUST 30, 2001
Dear Mrs. Mackin:
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your letter
regarding H.R. 2182, the Department of Veterans Affairs Employee
Retirement Equity Act. Past Commander-in-Chief, John F. Gwizdak,
requested that I respond to your inquiry.
As such, I am pleased to convey that the Veterans of Foreign Wars
of the United States supports H.R. 2182. As
advocates for the primary consumers of VA Health Care, we understand
the importance of maintaining a professional
health care force and in turn support the Veterans Health Administration
employees right to have past part-time
employment calculated the same as other Federal employees for
retirement purposes. We will continue to lobby
Congress until this inequity is corrected.
Again, thank you for your interest and please do not hesitate
to contact me if I can be of further assistance.
Sincerely,
Dennis Cullinan, Director
National Legislative Service

I wrote a letter to them before we had S 1188 introduced so I
called them and told them to also support S 1188 and
they assured me they would do so.
