Kendriya Vidyalaya

The History

In November, 1962, the Government of India approved the scheme of Kendriya Vidyalayas to cater to the educational needs of the children of Central Government employees including Defence personnel, who in exigencies of their service are frequently transferred from one language area to the other. As a first step towards implementation of the scheme, 20 Regimental Schools were taken over as " Central Schools " or "Kendriya Vidyalayas" during the year 1963-64. Two years later on 15th Dec., 1965, an autonomous body named "Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan" was set up under the Societies Registration Act of 1860 to open and manage Kendriya Vidyalayas. The number of Kendriya Vidyalayas has since gone upto 854 out of which 2 are running abroad at Kathmandu and Moscow respectively.

Kendriya Vidyalaya, I. N. S. Hamla, is a premier institution constantly striving to provide the best education to its students. The School believes in not only providing knowledge at an academic level but also at a moral and spiritual one. The institution believes in the all round development of its students.
