Biography:
Unlike most of the original fighters from Dragonball, Tien wasn't originally trained by Master Roshi. Although he's part of the group, he usually seems to be on the outskirts of things, since most people barely learn about this character throughout the series. However, he's mostly seen hanging out with Chaotzu, (I think he's his bodyguard or something) but he's always willing to take someone on in a fight no matter how powerful that person is.
