Route 66 by wheelchair

to help people with disabilities

On May28, 2003 Vasile Stoica, a Guinness World Record holder and the first Romanian to travel around the world by manual wheelchair, became the first paraplegic to travel Route 66 from Los Angeles to Chicago, journeying completely on his own and powered only by his hands. He undertook this amazing 66-day feat to raise awareness for disability issues in his home country, as well as gather funds for the Association for the Physically Disabled of Lugoj in Romania, which recently lost its central headquarters and one of its members to a fire. Funds raised for the non-profit organization are going toward the purchase of a new building, as well as to replace computers, medical, and sports equipment lost in the blaze.
More support is needed. Please take time to view the photos and other information on this site to see how you can help!
