Rishandra and Vaughn first met each other online in 1992 when they both were a local BBS. At the time both were involved with relationships with men. Vaughn was married and Rish was living with her boyfriend. Unbeknownst to Vaughn, Rishandra had fallen in love with him and would flirt when they were online together. Vaughn being the dense type (it's really true he is) he didn't notice. But then again Vaughn was also very conservation on a religious level so it never dawned on him that a womyn would make passes at him. But that all changed in 1994 when Vaughn realized he was gay and came out.
One night when online, about 7 months after he came out, he found the following message in his email: "How may I serve you" from Rishandra. He replied with "What are you talking about? Bedroom things or what?". Rishandra replied "Whatever you want". That threw Vaughn for a loop so he pulled Rishandra into a chat and asked "Since when did our relationship change?". That's when Rishandra, under the influence of wine layed out her heart saying that she was in love with Vaughn and had been for a long time. That led to a long night in chat and then on the phone. They made plans to meet at a local bookstore a couple days later.
It was at Twice Sold Tales bookstore up on Capital Hill in the science fiction section where they finally met. Vaughn was sitting on a milk box looking at a book when a stroller came around the corner. Then came what he described as the most exotic eyes he'd ever seen. That was that. Vaughn was a goner. According to Rishandra she was "gone" when Vaughn took her in his arms and kissed her. Anyway, before the kiss, Vaughn approached Rishandra's babygrrl and gave her a teddy bear knowing that he had to win the daughter in order to win the mother. The little girl smiled brightly and Vaughn had a new friend. Then came the kiss. Later that night they spent their first night together.
It was during that first night together than Vaughn asked Rishandra to marry him because he knew she was the answer to his heart's desire. Thankfully she said yes. How the wedding came about though is another story and another HTML.
But that's how they met, 6yrs ago. A very sweet memory.
