Rock of Ages

 Scorched earth
 torched houses
 blackened ruins
 with blind eyes
 the air thick
 with smoke
 and stench.

 With a heroic
 leap of faith,
 believe
 in order,
 out of chaos,
 green leafs
 out of burnt stumps
 flowers and ivy
 on the ruined walls,
 the song of birds
 the barking of dogs
 the laughter of children
in the long dusk of June.

Hit the rock with your staff,
 and the waters of life
 shall spring abundant
 blessing
 parched people and earth.
