the captain and the puddle
A sailor in the greek merchant marine, which is an extensive
business, much larger then the economic breadth of Greece, was always afraid of
drowning. Nevertheless he persevered through all the exams and ended up being a
captain with good pay. He started putting money aside, and when he had enough,
he bought himself a farm, away from the sea, and became a serious farmer, with
all the modern machinery.
One day, while going around farm business his tractor overturned into a puddle
of water, and the captain drowned in five inches of water.
This is a true story, told by my cousin who heard it from her neighbour whose
nephew the captain was.
