Kenneth Poe is the director of bands at Kemps Landing Magnet School in Virginia Beach, Virginia where he teaches 6^th, 7^th, and 8^th concert band, along with Jazz Band and Music Composition. He has been the director at Kemps Landing for the last 10 years where the program has grown from 27 students to 137 in a school of 600 students. In his 27 years of teaching music he has taught Elementary Band, Elementary Orchestra, Middle School Orchestra and Middle School Band. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from the University of Richmond, and an endorsement in Gifted Education. His concert bands have received superior ratings at the District II Band Festival in grade IV or V for last six years. Mr. Poe is the director of the group "Rejoice" based out of the Virginia Beach Community Chapel and he also directs the orchestra at the same church. He is a member of the following professional associations; Virginia Beach Education Association, Virginia Education Association, National Education Association, Music Educators National Conference, Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association and Virginia Music Educators Association.
He has directed All City Band in Virginia Beach in 2002 and Hampton Middle School Honors Band in 2005. Mr. Poe designed the curriculum for Jazz Band and helped with the design of the Music Composition classes that he teaches each day at KLMS.
