I have designed this page primarily as a resource for those who cannot read kanji and wish to use the true Japanese names when referring to Digimon. Everything listed here will aid you in doing so, along with the Romanizations Encyclopedia created and maintained by my best friend Matt, without whose help this page would not have been possible. He has my sincerest thanks. I would also like to thank Gomamon2000, whose Digimon Card Database has made this undertaking a great deal easier. I hope you find this helpful. –Andrew (vborath)

Digimon Analysis

Utilizing the resources offered by this page and the Romanizations Encyclopedia for Digimon and Attack Names, you should have all the means to construct a complete Digimon Analysis. They are modeled as follows:

Digimon Name, Evolutionary Stage, Attribute, Type of Digimon. Type of Technique is Attack Name.

Not too straightforward at first, but I’ll break it down and provide some examples. Let’s take Cyber Dramon.

Saibaa Doramon, Kanzentai, Wakuchin Shu, Saibougu Kata Dejimon. Hissatsu waza wa Ireizu Kurou.

So here we have Saibaa Doramon, Cyber Dramon’s name in Romanized Japanese. This method of writing the name is available from the Romanizations Encyclopedia.

It is followed immediately by Kanzentai, the Japanese equivalent of the Perfect evolutionary stage. You will find the names of all the evolutionary stages below.

Wakuchin Shu describes his attribute, in this case Vaccine Attribute, with Wakuchin being Vaccine and Shu being Attribute. You will find the four attribute types also romanized below.

Which brings us to Saibougu Kata Dejimon. This part of the analysis is the primary reason this page exists. The types (all 97 thus far) are almost universally written in Kanji, which takes a good deal of skill to translate. Once again, I must thank my friend Matt for his help in this, as we have all 97 listed on this page. Saibougu is the romanization of Cyborg, Cyber Dramon’s type. Kata itself means type, and Dejimon is the romanization of Digimon. Thus, we have ‘Cyborg Type Digimon.’

Hissatsu waza wa Ireizu Kurou. This translates as ‘Mortal Technique is Erase Claw.’ Once again, you will be able to find romanized attacks on the Romanizations Encyclopedia page. In this case we are describing Cyber Dramon’s Mortal Technique, or his A attack. If we wished to show that his B attack was Cyber Nail, such would be as follows: Tsuujou waza wa Saibaa Neiru. We change Erase Claw to Cyber Nail, and substitute the Mortal Technique hissatsu waza with the Common Technique tsuujou waza. These terms are used to describe the A and B attacks of any digimon child level or above. Baby I and Baby II Digimon are special case, however, as they have only one attack. This is always referred to as Ikaku waza, or Menacing Technique.

I hope this proves useful. All of the provided information can be found below.
