3E-O.A. -- "The Drakaran Empire" --Miscellaneous Combat Changes

Mounted Charge: If a character is riding a charging mount, and the mount itself is not attacking, then the rider may be able to take advantage of some of the mounts own strength with his own charge attack. The rider makes a Ride check -- if he succeeds vs a DC 15, he may add half (round down) of the mounts STR bonus to his own STR bonus for that attack, and if he succeeds vs a DC 20 he may instead add the mounts full STR bonus to his own STR bonus for that attack. A rider in a war saddle adds a +2 circumstance bonus to this check. If wielding a nagamaki (the only Drakaran melee weapon normally usable in two hands from a mount), the STR bonuses are combined prior to increasing the total STR bonus for the attack by 50%. If using a light lance (the only type of lance available in Drakara), the STR bonuses are combined prior to doing double damage for using a lance in a charge.

Deflect Arrows: A character no longer needs to have an empty hand to deflect arrows with -- a proficient weapon may also be used for this feat. In addition, a character whose BAB allows more than one attack may also deflect more than one arrow per round -- the character can deflect one arrow for each attack normally allowed from BAB alone, with the same iterative penalty for additional deflections as for additional attacks. For example, a sohei whose BAB is +6/+1 may use an open hand or any proficient weapon to deflect the first arrow with a DC of 20 and the second arrow in the same round with a DC of 25. A monk with UBAB of +7/+4/+1 may use an open hand or proficient martial arts weapon to deflect the first arrow with a DC of 20, the second arrow with a DC of 23 and the third arrow with a DC of 26; if wielding a proficient non-martial-arts weapon, such that his BAB would be +7/+2, and with no hand free, the monk could deflect one arrow with a DC of 20 and the second with a DC of 25. Magical arrows still add their magic to the DC required to deflect them.

Dodge: A character with the Dodge feat, or a ranger with a bonus to dodge due to a defensive favored enemy, no longer needs to select a specific opponent to be dodging. The Dodge feat now provides its +1 to AC against all attacks, except when dodge bonuses would normally be lost, and the ranger's defensive favored enemy dodge bonus now applies vs all opponents of that favored enemy type.

Weapon Finesse: Rapier does not exist as a weapon in Drakara -- however, the Weapon Finesse feat may be taken with the Scimitar instead, as a one-handed weapon for a medium-sized or larger creature, or as a two-handed weapon for a small creature.
