Dutch Czech Pilsener

 

Used Czech Pilsner base but used own hop combinations

based on a Dutch Pilsner theme

Ingredients

Beer Makers Czech Pilsener

1.25 Kg 'The Right Stuff'

2.75 oz Czech Saaz Hops (AAU 3.5%)

0.5 oz German Halletauer Hops (AAU 4.3%)

1 oz American Cascade Hops (AAU 5.4%)

Saflager Yeast S-23

 

Method

Simmer 1.5 oz Saaz and 0.75 oz Cascade for 60 mins

Add 1 oz Saaz and 0.5 oz Halletauer at 15 mins to go

Add 0.25 oz Saaz and 0.25 oz Cascade at 5 mins to go

Strain and sparge into fermenter

Add warmed Czech mix

Add The Right Stuff

Top with filtered water to 23 litres @ 26 deg C

Mix

Pitch Yeast

Ferment at low temp (around 18 deg C)

OG: 1.042

FG reached: 1.012

Alcohol around 5.3%

23 Litres

 

Analysis

Refreshing hop taste at bottling but not overpowering

Nice light golden colour

A very tangy bitter beer

Not quite as good as the Special Czech pilsner made last year

but very drinkable nevertheless
