Real Demolition Ale

This beer was thrown together the night before a "beer tasting" for friends so that we had an active brew bubbling away in the background

The aim of the beer tasting was to "demolish" our beer stock so that we had more empty bottles to further our hobby - making more interesting beers

It is based on Coopers Real Ale with a few extra hops thrown in to jazz it up

In honour of the occasion, we called it  Real Demolition Ale - a simple drop for quaffing

Started  30 Nov 01

Bottled 03 Dec 01

Call us boring but we used a can of Coopers bought at the supermarket as we had already driven home and forgot to get something more interesting from Colin at BYOAH. We had lots to do in preparation for the party and so couldn't be bothered driving all the way back to his shop - Colin forgive us!

Analysis

Started bubbling within 2 hrs of pitching yeast

Bubbled vigorously for the first day or so then rapidly slowed to a complete stop by day three - weather was very warm and humid, contributing to fast fermentation

Light golden colour at bottling

Quite a lot of loose sediment

Hops taste evident

Taste Test - Now this turned out to be a really good beer. Just goes to show you what you can do with basic ingredients and a bit of imagination. A can of goop, a hand full of leftovers. and a bit of time in the bottle .. and magic .. Isn't Chemistry fun?
