Bottled 21 Aug 99

 

Same recipe as last time (see below)

but didn't add the Cascade Hops (inadvertently left out)

Made up 24 litres of wort instead of 22

Analysis

Nice crisp taste at bottling

Very promising

 

First Batch

Bottled 15 Aug 98

 

Ingredients

1 Can Bacchus & Barley Bitter

1.5 Kg Light Malt Extract

250 gms Crystal Malt

2 oz Northern Brewers Hops

1 oz Cascade Hops

Saflager Yeast S-23

 

Method

Added 250 gms crystal malt to 4L cold water

Bring to boil, remove from heat, remove grains

1/3 of Northern Brewer Hops boiled in liquor for 20 mins

Next 1/3 added for another 20 mins boil

Last 1/3 added for another 20 mins boil

Added 1 oz finishing hops (Cascade) remove from heat (don't boil)

Cover wort

Place 3 gals cold water into fermenter. Add strained wort, B&B Bitter and LME

Pitch yeast

Ferment at lower temp for this beer (18 deg C)

Analysis

Excellent beer !

Slightly bitter

Holds head very well

From memory, tastes very similar to commercially prepared Anchor Steam
