Chapter 1-Hot Boys

"Hot guy alert," Jesse said, nudging me in my side.

"Ow, Jesse. You know I don't care about crap like that." I rubbed my side and turned around. "Besides...he isn't that hot."

"Whatever, Cari. You know, you're going to have to start acting like a normal teenage girl sooner or later. Might as well be now while there are all these hot high school boys around."

Jesse Ferrari-my best friend. I swear, if she's not putting make-up on, she's chasing after guys...and believe me, they chase after her as well. I mean, what high school boy wouldn't want to date an Italian 5'7", 120 pound model-type with long black hair and big brown eyes? But don't let her physical appearance or hobbies give you the wrong idea. She's actually one of the smartest kids in school. Very determined and independent - kinda like me. Guess that's why we get along so well.

"Look, I know I've been here for a month already, but I haven't seen any hot guys. Your idea of hot and my idea of hot differ, remember?"

"True," Jesse said, brushing the hair out of her face. "But there's gotta be someone that we can come to an agreement on."

I shut my locker and began to walk alongside of Jesse. "Probably not. Besides, it's like I told ya - I'm just not into that right now. I have other things to worry about."

Jesse rolled her eyes at me. "Like what?"

I rolled my eyes right back. "Like my school work, my job, my art...things that my future depends on. I'd rather worry about which colleges need my ACT score than what Max Pirazzi is wearing to this weekend's party."

"Max, eh? He is a cutie, isn't he?" Jesse said, raising her eyebrows.

I just chuckled and threw my arm around her. "Ah, Jesse..let's just get to class, ok?"
