What is your New Year`s resolution ?
We often encounter the word RESOLUTION every time a new year begins. People reflect on their lives and make an evaluation of themselves, coming up with a long list of resolutions to improve oneīs character, attitude and life. Year after year, people go through the same process... evaluation then resolution. But let me ask, have they really
changed ? The long list of ``I will never do this, or I promise to do thatīī is done for a time but not long enough to take effect on oneīs life. Sometimes, it only remains a statement with no action until, here comes another year... nothing has been changed. The cycle goes on from new year to new year.
The problem with resolutions is that, people try to solve or change unbecoming habits and ungodly attitudes with their own strength.
In 1 Corinthians 1:25 the foolishness of God is wiser than manīs wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than manīs strenght . It is sound and clear that we should draw our strenght and wisdom from God... God is the solution. From my own experience and I think several of you might agree with me, the secret of a changed life is
first of all, a change of heart and a change of mind. The very core is the indwelling of the Spirit of the Living God in the personīs life.
So this 2004, after having evaluated yourself, STOP writing down that long list of new yearīs resolution, instead decide in your mind to draw nearer to God this 2004. Feed your mind with Godīs Word, as you do that, His Word will soften your heart for His molding. With a surrendered mind and a soft heart, it is just but natural for godly thoughts, godly
attitude, godly actions to overflow from within. Resolve to be serious in your walk with God this 2004. He is the only solution to make your desire for a godly character formation come true in your life. He is the only One who can make the difference.
The Serenity Prayer
LORD GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT THE THINGS THAT I CAN NOT CHANGE THE COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS I CAN AND THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE.
