Be aware that cult members usually have three main errors:
- They don't believe that Jesus is the one true God
- They rely on scriptures other than the Bible and which
have more authority than the Bible
- They believe that salvation comes by works, special works
defined by the cult
- Treat them with respect.
- Let them know that you haven't accepted their special
book as Scripture and ask them to use only the Bible with
you.
- Have your Bible out and look up the verses they mention;
usually they will take the verses out of context; go to
verses about grace, not works.
- Always make sure you share your personal testimony with
them, emphasising the change Jesus has brought into your
life.
- Ask if you can pray with them.
- If they have no interest in meaningful discussion, don't
waste your time!
