To: Michael & Andrea Hiltner the.hiltner.family@sympatico.ca Hi Michael: Don't waste your time trying to find solutions for the portable phone if it is 49 MHz. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable on the subject of EMI/RFI, and I have yet to find a solution. They are too tiny, too poorly made. If it is 49 MHz, purchase a 900 MHz portable (Vtech are very reasonably priced, and work). Take it over and demonstrate how the interference goes away the moment you swap phones. If you are a nice guy, leave it there. If you are not quite that nice, at least you have demonstrated that it is the phone, not your station that is at fault, and point him to the maker of his phone for resoltution. You are on the right track with the tv - high pass filter first (and get rid of the dual preamp). He is not doing himself any favours by going to 2 preamps anyway. Those things have quite a high noise figure, so he actually ends up making his picture *worse*! Email me if the filters don't work, and I'll point you to a coaxial stub filter that has proven to be quite effective at my location. 73 & good luck John
