Qualifications: 10-12 year olds, who have completed their 5th standard primary schooling. The candidates shall be selected based on their primary school results, a test, and an interview.

Financing: Through the parent organization, "Lala Lahori Ram Gupta Charitable Trust (Registered).", and this residential program is offered at no cost to the students or their parents.

Applications are invited from the parents of boys, who want their children to pursue a path of bliss i.e. a spiritual way of life, as opposed to the mundane existence, which is full of strife and struggle throughout one's life span.


Course outline in brief

 

 

International School of Vedic Studies (INVEST)

Purpose:    To train Veda and Vedanta teachers with sound practical and theoretical background. The teachers coming out of this institution shall be proficient in Sanskrit, Hindi and English languages. These teachers shall spread the gospel of Vedic Philosophy and Indian Culture, in India and abroad, for the benefit of mankind, which is capable of instilling tranquility and peace to the mind of individuals. In turn this can produce peace and friendship among Nations.

 

Duration:    12 years.

 

Intake:        15 - 20 boys once every three years.

Location:    Village Faigul, Tehri Garhwal, Uttranchal, India, a very serene and peaceful environment.

 This school shall provide a 12-year residential program, which shall be divided into four segments of three years’ duration each. All students shall be expected to take examinations at suitable intervals under the affiliation of Uttranchal Sanskrit University. At the end of the course, the qualified students shall be awarded an Acharya Degree, which is considered to be equivalent to M.A. This program shall be absolutely free to the students and their parents

 

1st Segment

 During the first segment the students shall be trained in the chanting of Shukal-Yajurveda Rudarashtadhayee, Chanting of Gita with meaning, Vishnusahsarnaama, Durga-saptasati, Karmakanda, Jyotish, Valmiki Ramayana, Sanskrit, Hindi, English, Yoga-Asanas, music etc. The emphasis shall be on chanting and memorizing of Bhagvad Gita, Upanishads, and other Vedic texts.

 Students shall also be exposed to the use of computers. Training in public speaking shall form part of the course which shall be introduced at the start of this segment.

 In addition to the above mentioned program, the students shall take Prathama examinations Khandas 1, 2, and 3 at the end of year 1, 2, and 3 respectively.

 All students shall be given Brahmachari Diksha at the start of this segment.

 The first 12 months of the first segment shall be treated as a probationary period so that students shall be assessed for their ability to benefit from the program. Any student found not suitable shall be asked to leave the program.

 

2nd Segment 

 During this segment, they shall continue their studies in Sanskrit, Hindi, and English. Study of Vedanta shall be introduced in this segment. During this segment, students shall learn Bhagvat Mahapurana. 

In the first and the second year, the students shall take the Purva Madhayama 1st and the 2nd Khanda examinations. During the third year of this segment, they shall take Uttar Madhyama 1st Khanda examination.

 

3rd Segment

 During this segment, they shall continue their studies in Sanskrit, Hindi, and English. Study of Upanishads shall be introduced in this segment. During this segment, students shall learn Mahabharat Itihasa. 

 During the first year of this segment, students shall take the Uttar Madhyama 2nd Khanda examination and in the second and third year they shall take the Shastri 1st and 2nd Khanda examinations respectively.

 

4th Segment

In this segment, studies shall be undertaken in depth, in Prasthan Treyi i.e. Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads, Brahmasutras, and other related Vedantic texts. Exposure to western philosophy shall also be provided. This shall be a research type program and the students shall be required to undertake a detailed investigation into a given topic and submit a thesis report. Study of Yoga Vasishta, Patanjali Yoga Sutras etc. shall form part of this segment.

During the first year of this segment, students shall take the Shastri 3rd Khanda examination. In the second year the students shall take the Acharya 1st Khanda examination and in the third year they shall take the Acharya Final examination. Upon thus completing this program successfully they shall be awarded with an Acharya degree, which is equivalent to M.A.

Upon the completion of this 12-year program, the willing students may be given Sannyasa Diksha. Those taking Sannyasa Diksha shall be encouraged to enroll for a Ph.D. program at some recognized institution in India or abroad.

Any student may discontinue their studies and leave the institution at any time during the program after proper discussion with the head of the institution. Any one so leaving the institution shall not be re-admitted under any circumstance.

Applications are invited from parents of boys, of the ages between 10 and 12 years. The candidates must have completed their 5th standard primary schooling. This is a 12-year residential program, for the study of Veda-Vedanta, in a very congenial and serene environment of the Himalayas, in village Faigul, Tehri Garhwal, Uttranchal, India.

 This program shall suit only for those who want their children to pursue a spiritual path, which leads to the Bliss Absolute, as opposed to the mundane path, that is full of competition and dotted with strife throughout one’s life.

  This 12-year residential program is absolutely free of any costs to the parents. There shall be no binding of any sort, even though we expect the boys, completing this program, to help the Institution spread the Gospel of the Vedas world-wide. This program is being initiated under the auspices of the VEDIC FOUNDATION, a Division of Lala Lahori Ram Gupta Charitable Trust Regd. Feb. 12, 1996.

2.   Gita chapters 9-13, read with meaning.

3.   Maihmina Stotra - memorize.

4.   Durga Sapt Sati - 2nd Charan (chapters 5-8).

5.   Karma Kanda - Shodosho-upchar Puja.

6.   Jyotish - basic knowledge of (i) Panchang, (ii) Learn complete procedure for making Janma Kundali.

7.   Valmiki Ramayan - Ayodhya Kand and Aranya Kand.

8.   PLUS normal course of studies for the preparation of 7th standard examination of Uttranchal Sanskrit University.

 

 3rd Year - 8th Standard

1.   Shukalyajurved Rudarashtadhayee - memorize chapters 7th and 8th.

2.   Gita chapters 14-18, read with meaning.

3.   Purusha Suktam and Mantra Pushpam - memorize.

4.   Durga Sapt Sati - 3rd Charan (chapters 9-13).

5.   Karma Kanda - Yajna basic proceedure.

6.   Jyotish - complete observation of  (i) Panchang, (ii) Janma Kundali, (iii) Lagan Sadhan.

7.   Valmiki Ramayan - Kiskinda Kand, Lanka Kand and Uttar Kand.

8.   PLUS normal course of studies for the preparation of 8th standard examination of Uttranchal Sanskrit University.
