It's taken over 7 years to build my web site; it's considered one of the best Internet marketing portals on the Internet. My visitor stats and personal experience demonstrate that when someone visits my site several times they are much more likely to become regular visitors and then regular customers.
The main goal of any web site is to earn trust, if you can earn trust sales will automatically follow. The best way for me to earn trust in my opinion is to offer honest marketing advice and products that work, with as little hype as possible. I don't tell folks what to do; I enable them to learn what tools & strategies might work best. Offering multiple points of view, even opposing points of view, enables the visitor to choose solutions and strategies best suited to their individual business.
The Custom Toolbar It's difficult to find tools that really work to deliver return visitors. Recently I developed a custom toolbar for my website. It works like a bookmark but it's a lot more powerful. I was surprised when I discovered how many people were installing this toolbar. My traffic has gone up a lot and more people are linking to my website, my Google page rank has even gone up since I installed it. It delivers highly targeted pay-per-click traffic to my product sales pages. Members of AdSence can also offer Google's Site Search and Google's Web Search tools to earn additional income from searches preformed on your website. I took it one more step and included the Google search tools on my custom toolbar and it has turned out to be yet another source of passive income and targeted traffic. The Google search tool is the most popular and profitable feature on my custom toolbar.
Timed Autoresponders It's a fact; people usually don't buy on their first visit. Either they lack the time to explore your product fully at the time or don't know they need your product yet.
The most costly and labor intensive contact is that first contact. If you get nothing else from your first visit, ask for permission to send more information in the future.
No matter what product or service you sell, a series of well written autoresponders will at least double your sales. Each time a message arrives you have get a fresh new selling opportunity.
I send the second follow up message one day after their first request for information. I follow up again after two more days, then again after 4, 7 10 & 14 days. I send out the last auto responder after 30 days have passed. Each message offers a few valuable tips related to the benefits of the product or service. Free information is almost always welcome; it really helps close sales, and at the least earns return visits.
I don't recommend free autoresponder services. Many of these companies are blocked by anti-spam software. Companies like AWeber are great but a little too costly for smaller home based businesses.
You don't have to spend a lot. Last year I replaced a complex $300 autoresponder script with "Autoresponder Unlimited". This script is priced under $30 and has earned me thousands over the last few years. I can create as many series of timed autoresponders as I need with a one time cost for the script.
If you have a website you should consider this simple-to-install autoresponder script to avoid monthly fees and keep complete control of message delivery. Better yet, get the whole Tool Kit CD with hundreds of resources for $59.

Bottom line, there is simply no way I could have developed the amount of free traffic I get without it. But submission software isn't the whole solution. Building free traffic via the search engines is an important LONG TERM STRATEGY. It takes time and software only automates a very tedious process. For developing fast traffic it's still best to include a pay-per-click program like Google's AdWords or Overture.
To earn traffic via the search engines you must have a narrowly targeted title, description and the narrower you can target the content of your pages the better you will rank. Getting and giving links and testimonials is also important. One single top ranking page listing can deliver more targeted traffic than an expensive advertising campaign.
