Tofu that smells slightly sour can be used in this recipe.
Cut 1/2 " to 5/8" slices :
2lbs. tofu

Boil the slices in salted water for about 20minutes, adding a bit of seaweed to the water if you like. Drain and let cool.

Preheat oven to 350 F.

Lay the slices out close together in a shallow pan and sprinkle with:

1 tsp. paprika            1 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp.                      1/2 tsp. black pepper
1 tsp. chives, chopped fine.

Carefully pour in and around the tofu pieces, not disturbing the herbs, until it reaches the top of the slices:

vegetable bouillon (about 3/4 cup)


Bake for about 20 minutes or until almost all the liquid has gone. Remove pan from oven and pour more of the liquid on in the same manner as before.Bake another 10 minutes until liquid is almost gone again.

Brush with:
olive oil

Squeeze on:
fresh lemon juice to taste
