Vegeta and Lunch glared at
each other in the car. Whenever they stopped for traffic and whenever time
allowed they both put extra menace into their glares. It wasn’t that they
didn’t like each other; it was just that they did like each other and it
wasn’t a feeling that either of them was used to.
“So has anyone heard from
Bulma or Tien yet?” Vegeta gave up staring at Lunch and instead began
questioning her. For some reason he had a terrible urge to flirt with Lunch and
he had to fight his instincts every inch of the way in order to control himself.
Lunch shook her head stonily and Vegeta scoffed in annoyance.
Two days ago Bulma and Tien
had up and gone. Lunch and Vegeta had been the last to see them; they’d been
driving along the highway when Bulma and Tien had over taken them in a stolen
car. Even when the now infamous duo had turned down the highway that would take
them to the airport Lunch and Vegeta never suspected a thing. They just assumed
that a dealer must have been trying to leave the country, they certainly hadn’t
had a clue that Tien and Bulma had been fleeing the country. That same day they’d
returned back to base to find a flustered Eighteen cursing and ranting at no
one in particular, and it had taken them quite a bit of time to calm Eighteen
down enough for her to tell them that Bulma and Tien had taken the dealers
money and then had skipped town.
When Lunch and Vegeta had mentioned that they’d seen them on the way to the airport Eighteen had just shaken her head and had muttered something about her guy in customs saying that they hadn’t come through yet so they had probably just been laying a false trail. Vegeta and Goku had come to the conclusion that Tien probably wasn’t coming back.
Lunch looked at Vegeta
intently now, uncomfortable with being trapped with him in the close confines
of the car. “Eighteen talked to me this morning. Apparently they were hiding
out at Bulma’s parents mansion until last night when they chartered a
helicopter and left for
“Puh!” Vegeta scoffed.
“More like she was making him soft! You woman, always thinking that it’s the
men’s fault!”
“Well it is!” Lunch argued.
Her eyes flashed and she sighed, forestalling Vegeta’s retort as she continued
to speak when he opened his mouth. “I don’t want to argue anymore, I have a
headache.” She rubbed at her temple in emphasis.
Vegeta nodded and kept
silent the rest of the way back to Eighteens base, but not because Lunch had asked
him to, of course. He had turned his mind instead to the other problem at hand;
Goku. It was pretty clear already that Goku had something going with Eighteen.
He’d seen the looks that those two had been giving each other - it was almost
embarrassing!
You’d never see him fawning
over some woman like that!

Lunch bit her lip as she
pulled the car into the undercover lot and turned to Vegeta, he was deep in
though and didn’t notice her staring at him for several seconds, finally he
looked up at her and quickly glanced away, a scowl forming on his handsome
face.
“What?” he demanded
gruffly, preparing himself for another verbal spar with the feisty blonde.
“Look, Vegeta. I just want
you to know that even though I don’t trust you and even though I wouldn’t ever
choose you to be my partner, I do have to admit to you that I find you just a
little bit attractive.” Lunch watched as Vegeta’s eyes widened, if she hadn’t
had his attention before she sure as hell had it now.
“What…attractive?” Vegeta
spluttered, frowning suddenly in suspicion. “What’s this all about? You spend
all day fighting with me and then suddenly tell me that I’m attractive? In my
experience that means a woman wants something. So what do you want?”
Lunch blinked. “I don’t
want anything - I just, well, I don’t think it’s a good idea for us to be
partners. You see even though I hate you, and don’t get me wrong I absolutely
hate your guts, I do find you attractive and if we get into any hot water it
might be distracting.”
“You’re kidding right?”
Vegeta looked sceptical. “Look woman…”
“My name is Lunch, not
woman.” Lunch interrupted with a growl. “Good God! You’re the most arrogant and
egotistical man I know!”
“Well you’re the most
bitchy woman I know!” Vegeta shot back.
“Well your short!” Eighteen
countered angrily.
“Well your argumentative!”
Vegeta smirked as he got into the swing of the fight.
“At least I’m not a stuck
up man with strange hair!” Eighteen began to move closer to Vegeta, unable to help
but admire the way his eyes flashed with anger.
“At least I’m not some
ex-cop woman with a grudge against the law!” Vegeta leant closer to Lunch, his
angry eyes zeroing in on her flushed cheeks.
Lunch and Vegeta glared at
each other for a few moments more before they suddenly lent into each other and
kissed passionately. Vegeta’s hand reached up and pulled Lunch closer and Lunch
got to her knees and all but crept across the seat into Vegeta’s lap. They
hungrily fed at each other’s mouths, both of making low animal like moans in
the back of their throats. Vegeta’s
hand began to slide under Eighteen’s shirt when another car turned into the
parking lot and interrupted them. Lunch and Vegeta sprung apart like scalded
cats, both of them with wide, confused eyes.
“I have no idea what just
happened, but lets not let it happen again.” Vegeta panted, confused over his
emotions. He opened the car door and scurried out, his brain shrieking at him
for kissing a woman who would probably kill him if she ever found out who and
what he really was. He hurried along to Eighteens office and opened the
door…and froze in the doorway. The site before his eyes proving to be too much.
Lunch bumped into his from
behind. “Hey why’d you stop walk…” Her own sentence caught in her throat as
Vegeta stepped aside for Lunch to see what he saw. “Oh my God!” She shrieked
loudly.
Goku was sitting on a chair
with Eighteen straddled across his lap, they were passionately kissing and
Goku’s hands were up Eighteens shirt. They pulled apart as soon as they became
aware of an audience and both spluttered out excuses, both of their faces
blooming a bright red.
“It’s not what it
looks like!” Eighteen yelped, holding up a hand to ward off Lunch as she strode
forward.
“Of course it’s not.” Lunch
said sarcastically. “Let me guess, you fell on him right?” She stared at them
in shock, her lip curling in disgust as she surveyed her boss.
Goku blushed an even brighter
red and avoided Vegeta’s eyes. Vegeta took a deep breath and tried to steady himself.
He shouldn’t have been surprised really after all, he himself had just been
kissing Lunch not two minutes ago in the car - but still! It was obvious now
that these two had been up to more then just kissing. He could
understand Goku’s position; it was pretty hard to resist the ‘bad girl’ vibe
that Lunch and Eighteen put out.
