A/N – This fic
is a one shot Yuri fic, so if you can’t handle girl/girl action then I suggest
you leave. This is my first Yuri fic AND my first fic overall, so be patient
with me. The story takes place in an A/U where Mr. Popo wasn’t able to find all
the Earth Dragon Balls in order to revive Goku on planet Namek (because if you
remember he did die). Gohan, Bulma and Piccolo escaped on the
space Pod but Vegeta remained dead and Goku died when planet Namek blew up.
This fic is about how Chichi and Bulma feel afterwards, dealing with the death
of Goku, the knowledge they cannot bring Yamcha back to life, and how they feel
about each other.

Silver Lining

Bulma
sighed as she slowly swung back and forth on the old wooden swing, her mind a
shattered mess of grief and loneliness. Usually going to the park helped to
soothe her nerves – helped her forget about Goku and Yamcha. Today however,
seeing all the muscled men prancing around after frisbee’s with their giggling
girlfriends watching them made Bulma feel empty and sad.
Everything happy reminded her of all the good times she’d had
with Yamcha and everything sad reminded her of what she’d lost. It wasn’t fair.
It wasn’t fair that Goku and Yamcha had died - they should have been alive to
celebrate Frieza’s death with them, instead they were in the other dimension
with Tien, Choutzu and Krillen.
They’d probably forgotten all about her by now.
A single, glistening tear trickled down Bulma’s cheek and she
quickly brushed it away with a shaking hand. She missed Yamcha so much! Even
though they had fought like cats and dogs at times they had always come back to
each other; they’d loved each other even if they’d never said the words.
Yet, Bulma missed Goku even more then she missed Yamcha. Goku
had been her best friend in the entire Universe - and now he was gone and she
was all alone again.
“Poor Chichi.” Bulma mumbled to herself as she stood up and
dusted herself off.
Chichi hadn’t taken the death of Goku well and the knowledge
that he couldn’t be wished back to life with the Earth dragon balls had crushed
her spirit. She wasn’t the same person anymore. Gone were the days when she
would smile, these days Chichi was merely sad and always seemed just a little
depressed. Gohan was the only thing she had left in her world and she was
fiercely protective of him.
Bulma straightened her clothes off and smoothed a hand over her
shiny blue hair. She glanced around the park with a dull gaze, realising with a
small shock that she no longer felt serene here. The park was too loud, too
bright and far, far too real.
A small but beautiful smile slipped over Bulma’s full red lips
as she though of Chichi. With her long dark hair, deep black eyes and her
beautiful body Chichi was a woman in every sense of the words. She was perfect.
Abruptly Bulma shook her head and frowned as she clamped down on those
thoughts. She wouldn’t think things like that about her friend. It was wrong.
With a final gaze around the park Bulma walked away, her shoes
crunching over the autumn leaves as she made up her mind to visit Chichi.

Chichi felt her stomach flip as she saw Bulma park her car
outside and get out. The butterflies in her stomach worsened as Bulma shook her
long blue hair out of a ponytail, the strands of hair catching the sun and
glistening like strings of jewels. She swallowed and watched furtively through
the curtains as Bulma walked up the drive, her long and shapely legs swinging.
“Okay, she’s your friend – just your friend!” Chichi told
herself shakily, trying to get rid of the nervous feeling in her stomach that
she felt whenever she saw Bulma. She hadn’t always felt like this when she saw
her blue haired friend, only since her Goku had died. Chichi didn’t’ know if it
was wrong to feel like this - she didn’t even know where the feelings had come
from, but if she was honest with herself she had to admit that her thoughts
strayed to Bulma more and more these days.
Could anyone blame her though? Bulma was beautiful! It was
impossible not to feel so strongly about someone who was so beautiful both
inside and out.
The doorbell chimed and Chichi got up and let out a breath she
didn’t know she’d been holding. On the way to the door she glanced in the
ornamental mirror that hung on the wall near the door. She looked better - not
as haggard and thin as she had during the first year after Goku had died.
Self-consciously Chichi tidied her hair, wondering why she felt the need to
look good for her friend and the need to impress her.
“Hi Bulma.” Chichi greeted Bulma warmly as she opened the door
and smiled at her friend.
“Hey Chichi!” Bulma grinned back and spontaneously leaned
forward and hugged her. They stood there awkwardly for a second before Bulma
pulled back and spoke again, a bright red flush spreading over her cheeks. “Can
I come in?” She tucked a strand of blue hair behind her ear nervously.
“Oh, yes of course you can.” Now it was Chichi’s turn to blush.
How could she have forgotten to invite her in? Chichi moved back from the door
way and let the blue haired waif in, her dark eyes running down Bulma’s body as
she walked past her. “Would you like something to drink?” She asked.
“I’d love something cold.” Bulma followed Chichi through to the
kitchen, wondering if she’d imagined Chichi checking her out. Gracefully Bulma
sat down at the table and mulled over this while she watched Chichi pull a can
of soft drink out of the fridge. “So how have you bee Chi?” She asked finally,
deciding that she must have imagined the look Chichi had given her.
“Coping.” Chichi laughed softly and her eyes began to glisten
with tears. “I still miss him and it still hurts and all, but I’m coping better
then I was before.” She watched Bulma open her can of drink and sighed to
herself as the pain of losing Goku ripped through her like a knife.
“How’s Gohan doing?” Bulma took a sip of her drink found herself
wondering how Chichi’s hair could be so thick and glossy. Her own hair was
rather listless at the moment but Chichi’s was full and thick…
Bulma jerked herself back to reality when she found herself
wanting to run her hands through Chichi’s hair. What was wrong with her today?
Chichi was her friend!
“Gohan’s still living with his grandpa.” Chichi admitted in a small
voice. “I don’t think I’m well enough to look after him yet, I still get
depressed sometimes.” Her tears spilled over and Chichi turned her face away so
Bulma wouldn’t see her cry.
“Oh, honey! It’ll be okay!” Bulma put her drink down and moved
around the table to hug Chichi. “It’ll get better; you just have to find the
silver lining, that’s all.” She swallowed hard as her body tingled all over
from the close proximity to Chichi.
Chichi hugged Bulma tight and rested her head on her shoulder.
“I know.” She felt a tear slip down her cheek as she continued to speak. “I try
to see the bright side of things, but I can’t.” Chichi swallowed before she
kept talking. “I’ve tried dating again but, but I just can’t seem to get on
with any of the guys, I-I don’t know what to do when I’m with them.”
Bulma felt a small rush of perverse happiness that Chichi
couldn’t get on with men. “It’s okay, I know what you mean. I’m just so afraid
that if I get involved with another guy they might hurt me again by leaving.”
Bulma said truthfully.
Chichi felt Bulma gently run her fingers through her long dark
hair and she shivered, pressing her face into Bulma’s neck to muffle her moan.
Bulma kissed the top of Chichi’s head and moved her hands down to circle around
her friend’s waist, tightening them sensually.
Slowly Chichi turned her face up to Bulma’s, her eyes uncertain
as Bulma looked down at her lips and slowly lowered her face to Chichi’s. Their
lips met in a soft and gentle kiss and Bulma’s eyes drifted shut. She moaned quietly
as Chichi pressed herself into the kiss, feeling Bulma’s body tremble against
hers as their kiss deepened.
Bulma ran her tongue along Chichi’s lip and gasped when Chichi’s
hand gently stroked against her breast. Chichi kissed Bulma again as she felt
her nipple harden under her touch and heard Bulma moan. She felt the other
woman’s hand move up to tangle in her hair, pulling her back in for a kiss.
Bulma’s mouth opened to hers and their kiss deepened even more
as her tongue beat sexily against Chichi’s. She felt a flood of honeyed warmth
spread through her body as her lover pressed her body close once more and
moaned quietly.
“Chichi, is this right?” Bulma asked shakily and pulled back,
her eyes uncertain as she looked down at her friend’s passion bruised lips.
Chichi took a shuddering breath and nodded. “It feels right.”
“It feels good.” Bulma admitted and ran a hand over the material
covering Chichi’s stomach, smiling when she shivered under her touch. “Do
you…like me Chichi?” She asked quietly, unsure of what was happening between
them.
“Yes. More then…” Chichi swallowed before continuing. “More then
any man.”
“Really?” Bulma’s eyes glowed with happiness and she smiled. “I
didn’t know how to tell you how I felt about you, but…but I care about you too
Chi.” She traced the curve of Chichi’s jaw, surprised when she pulled her close
to kiss her once more, running her tongue over her full, soft lips.
Chichi took Bulma’s hand and led her over to the couch, where
they nestled together comfortably. Chichi kissed Bulma again, loving the look
of happiness that had replaced the confusion in her friend’s eyes. There was
something so right about the way she felt for Bulma.
Bulma gave her a devilish wink and un-buttoned her top, letting
it fall open. She swallowed hard, glanced at Chichi’s face then un-did her bra
and slid it off in a graceful and elegant movement. Chichi bit her lip a she
reached out tentative hands to cup Bulma’s breasts, shaping the glowing white
flesh with her hands and running her fingers over Bulma’s aching nipples.
“Your so perfect!” Chichi whispered softly, lowering her face to
kiss each breast. She got to her knees and pulled off her dress, throwing it
casually to the side as she drew Bulma up beside her and led Bulma’s hands up to
her own breasts. Chichi gently stoked
her friend’s thighs, enjoying the silky softness of Bulma’s skin.
Bulma leant in and kissed Chichi’s neck, gently placing a love
bite there, then she began to slowly kiss her way down to Chichi’s breast – her
kisses butterfly light. Chichi bit her lip to keep from crying out as Bulma
drew her nipple into her mouth and began to gently suckle. She rolled her eyes
up to look at Chichi then gave her a flirtatious wink as she pushed Chichi onto
her back and kissed a trail down to her stomach, dipping her tongue into her
belly button as she continued to move lower.
Chichi’s eye widened as she realised what Bulma was about to do
and her hands grasped the material of the couch as Bulma pulled down her
panties and began to explore the most intimate part of her. The pleasure swept
through her body like a warming glow and it was all Chichi could do to keep
from passing out from the sheer bliss. Eventually Bulma pulled back and smiled
softly as she licked her lips. “I have
to go Chichi.” She pushed her blue hair off her face and smiled.
“Already?” Chichi asked playfully. Bulma pointed at the clock on
the mantel and Chichi gasped as she realised that they had been on the couch
exploring each other’s body for over an hour. Suddenly feeling shy, Chichi
looked anywhere but at Bulma as she asked the one question that was plaguing
her. “Bulma? Where do we go from here?”
“I don’t really know.” Bulma bit her lip and looked at the
floor, her blue locks falling in front of her face to hide her expressive eyes.
“I guess we can keep seeing each other.” She looked back up with glowing eyes
and Chichi sighed with relief.
“That’d be nice.” Chichi stood up and collected her clothes,
dressing again as she pondered over what had just happened between them. She
walked Bulma to the door and shyly kissed her goodbye, hugging her tightly as
she whispered in her ear; “I love you Bulma Briefs.”
Bulma blinked dazedly down at her. “I-I love you too.” She
blushed and kissed Chichi, then turned to the door, hastily buttoning her shirt
as she slipped outside. Bulma walked lightly to her car and looked back at the
house. Smiling, she blew a kiss to Chichi who was framed in the window
watching.
“I found my silver lining.” Chichi whispered to herself and smiled
as she watched Bulma drive away.
