- History: Abdel of Candlekeep formed this party sometime after his twentieth birthday. He was hurredly told by his foster father, Gorion, to get equipped to leave Candlekeep. He did, and after the two left, they were ambushed and Gorion was killed. Abdel got away, however, and met with his childhood friend, Imoen, who had fled Candlekeep to follow Abdel. Gorion had pointed Abdel towards the Friendly Arm Inn if anything were to happen to him, so Abdel and Imoen went there and met two of Gorion's friends, Khalid and Jahiera. The two joined the party, and told Abdel that they wanted to check out the iron shortage going around by heading to the source of iron, Nashkel Mines. On the way, they met an elven archer named Kivan, who joined the party to hunt bandits. Upon reaching Nashkel, the party ran into a berserker from Rasheman named Minsc, and his hamster companion, Boo. Minsc had a dilemma on his hands. On a ritual called "Dajemma," Minsc was to adventure and protect a witch. In this case, the witch's name was Dynaheir, and she was recently kidnapped by gnolls. With Minsc in tow, the party went to the gnoll fortress and rescued Dynaheir, who joined the party with Minsc afterwards. Jaheira could see that Abdel was growing into a fine leader, and knew that he didn't need anyone keeping an eye out for him, so she and Khalid left the party, knowing that Abdel would do well in his journeys. After travelling through the mines, the party met up with a half-orc mage named Mulahey, who apparently worked for someone named Tazok. Mulahey was slain, and the party headed north and raided the bandit camp where Tazok was said to be staying. Tazok was found to not be at the camp, and some more clues pointed the group to Cloakwood Forest, where the bandits had enslaved a bunch of dwarves who were forced to mine iron. The party went through Cloakwood Forest to the mines, where indeed, the dwarves were inslaved. It was there that they met Yeslick, a dwarven Fighter/Cleric, who joined the party to free his brethren. After taking out the bandit leader, the party learned that he was under the rule of the Iron Throne, a high power in Baldur's Gate. The team went to Baldur's Gate and were greeted by Commander Scar, the leader of the Flaming Fist, a mercenary group and police force for the Sword Coast. They learned more about the Iron Throne, especially one member named Sarevok. The Flaming Fist pointed Abdel and his party back to Candlekeep, where Abdel met a student named Koveras. Koveras seemed suspicious to Abdel, but he didn't pay him any mind. Abdel had also learned that the Iron Throne had been meeting upstairs, but Abdel decided to do the honorable thing and leave them alone (instead of going to kill them). Abdel also heard that there was something he should see in Gorion's old room. It was a letter addressed to him, saying that he was a Bhaal spawn, a son of Bhaal, the Lord of Murder. He had also learned that the Sarevok guy he learned so much about was also a Bhaal spawn, one who wanted the legacy of Bhaal to be carried out. Unfortunately, Angelo, the new Flaming Fist leader, since Commander Scar was mysteriously murdered, had heard that the members of the Iron Throne were killed, and that Koveras had told him that Abdel and his party did it. Of course, this wasn't true, but nevertheless, the party was locked up. However, they learned that Koveras was really Sarevok in disguise (Koveras is Sarevok backwards), and they were transported to the Candlekeep Catacombs, where they were to find a way out of Candlekeep (but not before discovering a whole bunch of doppelgangers looking like Candlekeep townspeople!). They broke out and escaped Candlekeep. According to the Expansion Pack, the party (for one reason or another) decided to go to Ulgoth's Beard to do some sidequests. They later went to a secret city underneath Baldur's Gate, and fought and killed Sarevok. After the Bhaal spawn was killed, Kivan and Yeslick left the party, and Jaheira and Kahlid rejoined. After a few months, however, the party was captured by a mage, Jon Irenicus, and started to be experimented on. Khalid and Dynaheir were killed. Imoen was able to escape, and broke Abdel out of his cage, and the two then proceeded to bust out Jaheira and Minsc as well. With the help of a bounty hunter named Yoshimo, the party was able to break out of Irenicus's dungeon, but Irenicus was waiting for them. The Cowled Wizards (the magic police force) got into a fight with Irenicus, and Imoen joined in too, causing both to be arrested.
