What is "Dragonball" about?

It might seem strange, but where I come from, some people don't even know that there is a prequel to DBZ. It is called Dragon Ball. Dragonball tells the story of a young Goku. Goku is found by his adopted Grandfather, Gohan. Gohan raises Goku and Goku turns out to be one hell of a strong guy! Little does Gohan know that Goku is from antoher planet, but that is DBZ history! Anyway, things are all going well around the house, but it becomes night. Even stronger: it becomes full moon! And every Saiyan maniac knows what that means! That's right! Young Goku looks into the full moon and turns into a giant ape! He crushes the entire village and steps on his Grandfather, which means the end to poor old Gohan. When the full moon is gone, Goku turns back to normal and finds that his Grandfather is dead. Goku, being a not to smart kind of guy, finds his Grandfathers Dragonball, and thinks it holds his spirit. Thus, Goku swears to protect this Dragonball with his life. Little time later, Goku meets up with a young girl named Bulma. Goku attacks her car which he thinks is a beast that is trying to eat Bulma. The two sort things out and Goku takes Bulma inside where she notices the Dragonball. Bulma tells Goku about the Dragonballs and adds her two to the collection. Goku shall travel with Bulma to seek the other Dragonballs, but foremost to protect the Dragonball of which Goku still thinks it holds the spirit of old Gohan. Bulma takes Goku with her as a sort of bodyguard and goes on. That is how Dragonball begins. In Dragonball, Goku meets a lot of important characters to the series, Like Yamcha (a thief who wants to steal their Dragonballs but later joins the side of good), Master Roshi (Goku's fighting mentor), Krillin, Goku's very best friend and many other characters like Puar, Oolong, Tien and Chao-tzu. He also meets up with Chi-Chi. In his lack of knowledge, Goku promisses to marry her, but he doesn't know what marriage is yet! Still, he marries her later on. But also so enemies are in the pack. Of which most important: Piccolo! Kami (the guardian of the Earth) gets rid of the evil within him, thus creating Piccolo Daimo! This Evil Kami fights Goku. Goku wins, and just before Daimo dies, he lays an egg. This egg hatches later on and becomes the Piccolo we all know (so Piccolo is very young, actually). Goku and Piccolo fight (Goku has grown a lot by now) and Goku wins. He gives Piccolo a Senzu Bean to recover and flies away on Nimbus with Chi-Chi. Well, that is pretty much the end of Dragonball. Of course, the actual series have a lot more storylines to it then told here, like for instance Emperor Pilaf (we'll talk about him when we reach GT) and some other guys, but the most important stuff is here. If Dragonball ever airs around here, be sure to watch it, cause there is a lot of important stuff in it!
