THE ANCIENT WORLD
About 230 million years ago, the world was a very different place. It was inhabited by an incredible species of reptile known as dinosaurs. The earliest dinosaurs were relatively small, but they had one advantage over the other animals, and that was that most of them could walk on two legs. These quick and agile creatures soon came to dominate the earth.
Our understanding this ancient world comes from discovery of fossils, these are the buried remains of pre-historic bone and plant-life. They give us a good indication of what creatures lived at different periods through time.
Based on their fossil evidence found, Scientists have divided the dinosaur's world into three distinct areas called the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.
