ENEMY
BEHAVIOR The enemies Snake faces in his new adventure feature realistic behavior and are trained to detect any intruders. Patrolling guards will notice loud noises, gunfire, Snake's shadow, blood droplets and even wet footprints. Upon detection, guards will radio for help or run for backup. Most guards will also report in on a regular basis. If a report does not come in, an additional sweep team will be sent to investigate and search the area - using strong-arm tactics such as lobbing grenades to smoke Snake out. Alert guards also make more difficult targets and may duck if Snake tries to grapple them from behind. NEW MOVES Snake's repertoire includes a number of new moves and techniques. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty features a first-person perspective, ideal for precision targeting and scouting out new environments. To activate this mode, simply press the R1 button at any time. Snake also has a number of new techniques that can help him avoid detection, including leaping over and hanging off of railings, opening and hiding in storage lockers, and a rolling somersault, which can be used to knock enemies off their feet. Snake can also now sneak up behind enemies and hold them at gunpoint whereupon he can take items and ammunition from them.
Everything
in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is there for a reason. Seemingly
everyday objects and features can be used to the player's advantage; so
make sure to utilize all of Snake's gear to discover hidden areas and
items. Light bulbs and steam pipes can be shot at to provide a
distraction while the player escapes enemy squads; in emergency
situations storage lockers can provide a handy hideaway, and often
contain invaluable items and supplies
