Greenline Areas |
||||||||||
The V&E Greenline is divided into six areas each with different physical features. |
||||||||||
The "Springs" is between Springdale Street and Jackson Avenue at University. The Springs is a shady walkway under a canopy of trees. It provides a serene environment not often found in cities. |

"The Cut" emerges upon crossing Jackson, west of University. It is a sunken path with steep slopes on both sides. The Cut reflects a tension between native plants and the aggressive and destructive non-native kudzu. |

Crossing McLean, the "Arbors and Gardens" reveals a flat and sunny terrain. Thirty species of flowers bloom from February to November and include both perennial and annual flowers. The Arbors is a miniature arboretum that contains 15 species of trees, including many that came from the backyards of residents. |

"Lick Creek" provides a picturesque urban stream that flows adjacent to Evergreen and Auburndale Streets. It is also the future site of a bridge that will united the east and west sections of the V&E Greenline. |

"Utility Park", the next section, is part of the Memphis, Light, Gas, and Water greenbelt that has water-pumping stations where the City gets its drinking water. This open and flat area is dotted with many trees. It also includes West Creek that flows through the area behind the Woodmont Towers apartment complex. There are plans to build a full sized bridge in three years that will traverse West Creek. |

The "West End" is adjacent to Watkins Street and North Parkway Avenue and concludes the V&E Greenline. The flat terrain ultimately changes back into a trail bordered by slopes on either side. |
