Below
you will see some of the beautiful boys that can be found at Veliraf Rabbitry.
I always keep quite a few bucks, as they can be shown for a much longer
period than the does can. Most of my does are shown until they are eight months,
and then they are retired to raise the next generation of beautiful rabbits. The way I show my animals is also a little different,
I will usually only show a rabbit until it gains three legs to it's grand championship.
I then retire the rabbit to the breeding pens to make way for the next grand champion. Some of the pictures don't do the animals
justice, and I will try to improve the quality of the photos as soon as
possible. I will also eventually include some comments about the individual animals,
that are my own, and some judges opinions.
Veliraf's Rijo
Sire:Veliraf's Emilio Dam: Husky's Tess DOB - June 8, 1997 Colour - Orange Weight - 2 pounds, 3 ounces |
Grand Champion
2 Best of Breed, 3 Best of Group. Rijo is the oldest buck that I have here, he consistantly proved himself on the show table, and has also produced numerous good quality kits. Some examples of what he can produce: Ken, Telina, Lani. |
Veliraf's Spinach
DOB - December 24, 1997 Colour - Black Weight - 1 pound, 14 ounces |
Spinach has one leg to his grand championship. He is not a terribly substantial buck, but he does seem to throw kits with tons of bone. |
Schwartz's Rip Tide
Sire:Krall's Starbuck Dam: Krall's Dawn DOB - September 30, 1997 Colour - Ruby Eyed White Weight - 2 pounds, 6 ounces |
I finally recieved Tides paperwork, turns out he has 9 grand championship legs. Tide is one of the most laid back bucks I have ever seen, takes quite a bit to interest him in the ladies!! He has excellent shoulders, and a very nice head. |
Veliraf's Ken
Sire:Veliraf's Rijo Dam: Covert's Sister DOB - July 3, 1998 Colour - Broken Chestnut with blue eyes Weight - 2 pounds, 1 ounce
Obviously Ken is not a show rabbit but he is a beautiful animal and I am using him to try to produce some Blue-Eyed-Whites. He has an excellent head and a good head set as well. |
Veliraf's Piper
Sire:Veliraf's Emilio Dam: Rosie's Cha Cha DOB - May 5, 1998 Colour - Chestnut Weight - 2 pounds, 3 ounces
Piper is now a Grand Champion. Although he is a little long in the mid-section, Piper seems to be producing rabbits that look more like his sire, Emilio. I am quite pleased with what he is producing, and absolutely LOVE his temperament. |
Veliraf's Cornflake
Sire:Veliraf's Dee Dam: Veliraf's Poppin DOB - April 4, 1999 Colour - Black Himalayan Weight - 2 pounds, 6 ounces |
|
Cornflake started showing last fall, and he managed to collect one leg to his Grand Championship. His spring coat, however left much to be desired. Because his points are so dark, sometimes smut has a tendancy to form where no colour is supposed to be. This problem seems to have corrected itself though, so hopefully he'll be ready to show in the spring. |
Felgate's McFee
Sire: Felgate's GW3 Dam: Felgate's HW1 DOB - August 10, 1998 Colour - Black Otter Weight - 2 pounds, 8 ounces |
|
McFee is one of the bucks that I picked up at the convention in Kentucky. He is a bit larger than the bucks that I usually work with, but his type is excellent. He seems to be throwing excellent quality offspring. |
Felgate's Kurby
Sire: Felgate's DW1 Dam: Felgate's 48 DOB - October 7, 1998 Colour - Black Himalayan Weight - 2 pounds, 3 ounces |
|
Kurby is another one of the bucks I picked up at the convention. He is the second place senior buck. That alone should tell you what his quality is like. About the only thing that I could fault on Kurby is his point colour, I would like it to be darker. |
Andrew's Dark Toes
Sire: Andrew's Toe Dam: Schott's Dark Eyes DOB - March 21, 1999 Colour - Chestnut Steel Weight - 2 pounds, 8 ounces- |
|
This buck is quite nice, he looks like he is going to develop a very nice head with quite a bit of width to it. I am trying to teach him to pose properly so that he will be ready at the spring shows. |
Thompson's Fleet
Sire: Thompson's Jupiter Dam: Thompson's Cupid DOB - July 11, 1998 Colour - Opal Weight - 2 pounds, 6 ounces |
|
Fleet is a newcomer to our rabbitry, and he hasn't been used very much(actually, only once so far!!). I'm hoping that his lines will mesh well with what we have already. If his litter with Pudding is any indication of how it's going to be, then he will likely be one of the best bucks that I own!!! |
Veliraf's Mister
Sire:Felgate's KurbyDam: Veliraf's Kifa DOB - June 6, 2000 Colour - Sable Marten Weight - 2 pounds, 4 ounces |
|
This buck is from one of the first litters that Kurby has produced. Although I don't like his colour, I think that when this buck matures, he will be quite stunning. |
Veliraf's Pep
Sire:Felgate's MeFeeDam: Veliraf's Ariel DOB - December 13, 1999 Colour - Black Weight - 2 pounds, 4 ounces |
|
This buck is from one of the first litters that McFee has produced here. He managed to pick up one leg to his grand championship last spring, and hopefully will finish up this coming spring. |
Veliraf's Bill
Sire:Veliraf's Spinach Dam: Veliraf's Squash DOB - June 26, 1998 Colour - Black Weight - 2 pounds, 7 ounces |
|
Bill is a very solid rabbit. He's not been to too many shows, because he's developed the habit of biting his fur. Every once ina while he decides to give himself a haircut, and it's generally about a week before any given show. |
Veliraf's Bob
Sire: Dick's Brutus Dam: Covert's Sisiter DOB - August 16, 1998 Colour - Ruby Eyed White Weight - 2 pounds, 8 ounces |
|
Bob isn't the best rabbit to look at, although he does have a very nice head. He's the one rabbit that my husband enjoys showing, so he stays around simply for that reason. I haven't used him on any does, but I may in the future. |
Veliraf's Oden
Sire: Veliraf's Echo Dam: Veliraf's Kaluna DOB - July 28, 2000 Colour - Chestnut Weight - 2 pounds, 3 ounces |
|
This little guy look like he is going to be something special. He already has the character that many of my bucks have! He already has very smooth hips, and his head is developing quite nicely. I can't wait to show him in the spring. |
