Ru and white Bailath

Ru hefted the flame thrower over her shoulder and grimaced. It wasn't that she didn't like carrying the weight, but it was... uncomfortable. She had decided to try out the flame thrower as well as the firestones to see which she would adapt to much more easily. When the Weyrling Master had informed her that Bailath would not go infertile, she had almost clapped with glee. That was a good thing... although back in Vella Crean, life was just about safe, she did love the thrill of fighthing thread. Maybe that was considered suicidal but... she was snapped out of a slight daze as she used theflame thrower. She herself preferred the firestones, not only did she get to see Bailath let out a pretty impressive flame, it seemed...easier to concentrate. Dipping low in the sky as she continued on with her formation, she mentally scanned the sky and grinned. Training should be over soon for the day...
Groaning with releif, she chuckled sheepishly as she absentmindedly patted Bailath on the back. It wasn't that she was... lazy, but she did appreciate having time off. As her stomache reminded her to feet itself, she all but trotted down to where the other Sr. Weyrling riders were heading, catching a brief glimpse of Shea and V'ech walking hand in hand. She couldn't help but chuckle. They were a sight.

"You finished for the day?" Z'braxs walked in step with her as he appeared from one of the shadows. He grinned. "I remember those days..." he chuckled then. "Can't say I miss them though..."

Ru grinned then, as she brushed her bangs out of her eyes. Running her fingers through her hair, she absentmindedly made a mental note to get it cut...one of these days. "Well... It can't take forever to graduate." her eyes glinted with mischief. "But then..." she blushed as she looked away, remembering that moment at the Vella Crean... bringing a hand to her cheek, she felt herself redden even more.

"Well, graduation is a celebration for everyone..." he said softly, and watched her with amused eyes. "But I must say, your handling this pretty well...I haven't heard you complain about much..." his eyes took a innocent twinkle. "Except for of course... the repitition of too many drills, not liking the hours, not liking--" he stopped when she playfull batted his shoulder. "Must I continue?" he drawled.

"Oh, alright... this isn't my favorite moment..." she smiled then, a slightly faraway smile. "But it feels so good to have impressed...all that waiting around has paid off... and now...I've got Bailath."

As they walked in and went straight for the food, Z'braxs couldn't help but laugh. "Bailath...how is she handling it by the way? I heard that she sulked after she was kicked off the ice..."

"Ooh...wouldn't you know it." she muttered. "You'd think that she wouldn't have grown so fond of it so quickly..." yet the memories of the hatchling Bailath flooded her then, causing her to giggle. "Although now, I won't have to worry about using my clothes as wraps around her head... she did look quite silly..."

Picking at the food and sitting on one of the benches with a few other riders, Ru looked around and grinned. She had been telling the truth... this, spending time here as a rider, and not as a weyrbrat, did feel good...
